It looks like zero articulation in the front suspension. Not easy to get out of harder situations when the wheels are up in the air. A lift would be a good start but the springs and shocks need to be replaced to make the R2 a true offroader.
There is. But it's independent front and rear suspensions. Never going to see as much articulation as vehicles with solid axles (and those ride like shit on pavement). Most of these, like the R1 and Jeeps, will spend most of their lives on pavement.

Agreed, the R2 would never be a true offroader. Can't wait to see all the youtube videos of R2s stuck at Moab :D

Broncos have far better articulation with independent front suspension.

If you need a great offroader that rides well on the pavement, look at a G wagon (even an older one). They ride much better than any Jeeps or Broncos and are far quieter at highway speeds.

Shrug. Everything has limits and every driver has potential to make judgement mistake. Anyone can get stuck. And, "if you don't get stuck, you ain't having fun".

It’s just a prototype thing. Here’s a pic of what it should look like when it goes into production. Two tow hooks, similar to the R1S.

It sure looks low, i wouldn't get too excited about it for off highway adventures.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Maybe there will be an off-road package. Who knows? They are testing it off-road though, so there must be a reason.

9.8 inches of ground clearance - not the same as our R1Ts and R1Ss, but still higher than a Subaru Outback with the wilderness trim.

I think the Outback is a good baseline for the R2 in it's stock form. I expect it to be similar to an Outback or Jeep Cherokee off road, but more capable. The question with R2 is, will they have all terrain version that has real improvement over stock and will it be easier to upgrade the suspension to improve articulation and ground clearance for those that wish to.

The R1 has a much more versatile suspension out of the box but is virtually impossible to upgrade for those that wish to. Will the R2 balance the less capable suspension with more ease of upgrade?
