R1X ?

Has anyone heard anything new about the R1X. The Feb 19th announcement has me thinking about this again and remembered that they filed a pattent/tradmark for this back in June. Could the R1X truly be a real thing and possibly even be coming "soon". I also cant believe that I just now noticed the teal quad accents are the same color as what has been used on the R3X

I would be very surprised. They already fractured the R2 demand by announcing the R3 at the same time. They probably don't want to split it up even more.

I wonder if they might reintroduce the R1 quad as the R1X to capitalize on the existing hype. This move would also differentiate it from the tri-motor model by highlighting the additional software features they’ve been teasing. It generates more buzz than a straightforward announcement like, ”after a year of saying it’s coming, it’s here.”

R1X is sometimes how the R1 platform is called internally. Like Win 9X.

I haven't heard any reliable information that Rivian intends to release anything new on the R1 platform. But my sources usually don't want to discuss those things either.

Or perhaps Feb 19 is more mundane like NACS built in… I hope not. I’d still like to get a CCS1 one given how much more convenient it would be for home and even most road trips as Superchargers I’ve seen always seem to be PITA to pull into while towing. We’re still deciding between an EX90 and R1S to replace our 2010 XC90. Our Gen1 R1T is great and adding a Gen2 to the garage would be nice before NACS hits them natively. There’s been only one trip where for convenience we used a Supercharger and it was in an open lot that made pulling with our trailer without needing to unhitch first easy to access.

I could see them launching an R1X. Rivian does like to spring surprises. I think we all know at the very least its going to be the quad motor announcement likely with a new exterior and interior color option. I could see them branding it as the R1X, rally inspired trim. Maybe they bring in even more extreme offroad capability. Larger tires, virtual lockers, tank turn, baja mode.
