I leave my main display on the earth view on maps by default, and have for the last three years. It was always an amazing high definition view, you could pinch scroll and zoom w/o buffering 99% of the time (I rarely use actual navigation). Today’s upgrade feels like they went from HD to old school CRT, it’s washed out looking and buffers when you scroll or pinch. WTF? Why did they downgrade our maps?

Yes, the high definition is gone! Bugs me too.

Wait, there was high def option? My old satellite map definitely was not. This upgrade was extremely nice welcome for me.

Think I figured it out, click the settings wheel and select 3D. Much more like what I was used to, color not as good but some useful new icons over things.

The 3D mode fixed it, just the 2D is high definition in my iPhone app … maybe it’s the scaling to the larger screen? Donno, but can live with the 3D view 😉

I’ve only driven a few miles with the new update.

Map seems just as clear to my old eyes as the old one was. I do appreciate the better display for the traffic lines, the old map was very hard to see the lines when using the satellite view, they are much easier to see now, more like in my Tesla.

I also appreciate the dual mile/percent estimates when a trip is running.

I’ve seen people complain about the zoom on a trip, it seems to be the same to me after the update but it has never been a problem in my experience.

A couple of updates ago they changed the map to switch to a zoomed in 2D map when approaching a turn or exit and you coudln't see where you had to turn or exit until you're right on it. This update with google maps fixed that. I can finally see where I'm going. I don't use satelite view, it's too distracting for navigation.

The new Google map with 2025.22 is a great improvement over the previous map. The traffic updates is easier to see, appreciate the bigger fonts (being an older driver), like the % of SOC along with the miles remaining, navigation is easier to follow, audio reminder of my next turn is very helpful. Kudos to the developers. A nice to have: option in the map setting to show directions in the direction of the car driving.

I think you guys are using navigation, I just never use unless I’m traveling and need the charging stops calculated for me. I find the chimes and mutes annoying, I usually know where I’m headed … ingrained from growing up navigating with a Mapsco 😆

How is it fixed? Mine still zooms in so far the rest of the roads disappear. It is distracting and dangerous when using this navigation system.

Yea there's no way to zoom out and have it still scroll as we drive. Sad but it was flakey in the old version as well. The two finger tap rarely did what I wanted. I'll take the large typefaces and icons as a trade though. Maps in general are annoying. When I really need them, is offroad. Little forest roads disappear as soon as I zoom out to see where they go. Instead I have to zoom in crazy close and do the rat in a maze thing, then zoom out and lose where it went again. Same issue on our GX. I have to zoom to 700ft scale to see dirt roads. Why? There are no other roads anywhere on the map. No freeways or anything. OnX does it better.

My issue is that satellite view is super dark and murky when it switches to dark mode. I can make out very little detail outside the highlighted route. Hopefully future updates address this.

Is there any way to access an alternate mapping system, besides Google Maps - Apple Maps, in particular? Or, are we just stuck with Google? I want options.

I do chuckle. People bitch and moan about the nav. Then they get google and, wait for it…, bitch and moan about google.

I didn’t have any problems with the OG nav. Google seems fine. Would love if the night vision version wasn’t just a dark blob with a blue line, but assume we will see improvements/refinements as they iron out the kinks.
