This is humorous and fixable but does speak to a lack of attention on the factory floor, QC at the factory and the PDI at the service center!
Exactly this. Imagine the less obvious, oversights, mistakes, and shortcomings along their assembly lines if these obvious errors make it into the customers hands.

Iā€™ll be loosing sleep wondering if they even used a torque wrench on anything.

Makes one question if Rivian understands the concept of Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

Sloppy mistakes such as this interior mismatch will cause the company to fail

Hope they get their act together before buyers lose confidence in the company

Just think, somewhere out there, exist a complementary R1S with the colors reversed. Your R1Sā€™ cosmic twin!

That video! My uncle drove a Trabant. Rode in it once or twice as a kid and, if memory serves, it was a real piece.

Wow! Thatā€™s sad! Canā€™t believe Rivian doesnā€™t have better quality control. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

These are the type of QC mistakes that should be sent straight up the ladder to manufacturing execs to nip this in the bud immediately.

Along with that, there needs to be a review of why this wasn't caught at the service center and addressed before you ever saw it.

Now is the time to work this out before they have to get 3-4x the number of these things out the door.

Rivian does not want to be known as a brand that skimps on quality or attention to detail. That kind of funk is hard to get rid in the automotive industry.

You would think with all the video tech in a plant today you could send them your VIN and they could watch your specific vehicle go through the process to figure out which crew did this.

Crazy bad to be sure; however, the suggestion that this means hidden stuff is likely to be a QC issue is not accurate. In fact, the opposite is just as likely to be the case. It's called inattentional blindness.

It's a crazy phenonomon to be suret but basically, he QC person may have been so focused on some detail in the back that he or she never notice the gorilla in the room.

I'm glad you're taking it in strides. We should have a sticky for all the QC errors so that anyone picking up their R1 can watch out for them.

New buyers should demand a checklist of QAā€™d items with the inspectors initials. No reason the buyer should have to inspect a new vehicle as quality should be assumed.

Nicely summarized. But bring out all the chicken littles that declare the sky is falling, Rivian is failing, this is the end of the world, blah blah blah because of one obviously bad but random QC human error.
