  1. Warning - Safety Defect Found with Lectron NACS Adapter

When I followed up with Lectron on my NACS to J 1772 adapter I was able to confirm there was no UL appproval. Just some sort of review according to supplier. That approval does have value
  2. Rivian service every bit as bad as people say

It’s so unfortunate that the quality we as the senior generation had built into industry is no longer. Just take Boeing for example a world leader that is now failing. . We need to do what it takes to again put quality ahead of quantity or manufacturing may cease to exist in the US. Those that...
  3. Burnt wire in the wall charger

When you run a continuous load for more than say 3 hours you derste the components or another way to say it is you increase the current carrying capacity of the circuit by 20% to allow for the heating that occurs when you push wiring with a continuous heavy amperage load. Same if you were...
  4. Burnt wire in the wall charger

Correct the new gen 3 wall connectors by Tesla broadcast a SSID and when you connect to them with your smart phone or tablet you are given the option to set your breaker size which sets max current. They also record faults and will display date and time and description of the fault. Also don’t...
  5. TuneIn Scam Alart !

Interesting I received an alert last evening that my credit card is being charged $10.76 for a subscription I do not have with TuneIn. Tried to cancel but not possible as I do not show an active subscription. They definitely have a problem
  6. 110 Charging Using Light Bulb Socket Adapter

Will it work once possibly. Should you try it no. Lamp sockets as mentioned are made very cheaply. You also will have light switches or possibly timers / photocells in the circuit that will not be rated for heavy loads. Although extension cords are not the preferred mechanism to power a car cord...
  7. 2024.11.2 Software Update Released! => Release Notes: Send Navigation, Mapping, Charging Feedback/Scores + Rear Display Improvements + More

Some great changes but my personal request is still to allow me to determine where time and temp should display. Would like it in front of driver so not to have to look to far right on center screen. Must be a tougher change than I realize.
  8. Bi-Directional Charging

If we had Rivian support we could do it but I do not believe they will engineer a solution until industry agrees upon a single standard like the finally agreed upon NACS for basic charging.
  9. Bi-Directional Charging

In very simple terms you are correct. But need Rivian to supply firmware to allow their vehicle to output HV DC. Most likely could use existing CCS charging connector. Assumes all circuitry is in place in the vehicle to monitor the DC amperage and that there is proper fusing in case of a fault...
  10. What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

And I will bet that somewhere in the terms of the sale to you of a third party manufacturers adapter they state that they are only liable for the actual cost of the adapter should there be a fault/ failure of the device whether they are found negligent or not as to the actual cause of the event.
  11. Charge port location poll: what standardized location would you like to see?

What about an option for two charge ports maybe one front and one rear. Let the user decide and fund the option
  12. Bi-Directional Charging

This ties back to the need for an agreed upon powering standard. Currently vehicles I have worked with only output high current DC from the traction battery. You change that to AC with an inverter that is part of the home system. Personally I doubt we will see the inverter with a high current...
  13. Charging at 19.2kW?

And a 19.2 kw charge rate at 240 volts requires a 100 amp breaker when you allow for the additional 20% heating factor. That’s a pretty substantial load and would tax many older power panels

  15. Difficulty charging with the 120 portable charger

Let’s start with a good quality ext cord at least 14 gauge and connect to a non gfci protected outlet and verify your vehicle portable charge cable is working properly. If that works ok then suggest replacing the garage gfci with a quality ( brand name) gfci the fact that the gfci trips after...
  16. Difficulty charging with the 120 portable charger

Ok a bit strange. When you say you have tried a couple of non gfci outlets what actually trips in that scenario. Something on the portable vehicle charger cord or something in the house. I ask as because with a non gfci outlet you would only have the circuit breaker in the panel that could trip
  17. Difficulty charging with the 120 portable charger

Have you tried plugging into a non gfci outlet. Since the wall connectors typically have built in gfci protection the combination of two gfci’s will sometimes act strangely. Also assuming the gfci trips as soon as you plug in the portable charger and not just when the vehicle is connected
  18. Rivian Wall Charger oscillates in charging rate, support says normal?

I misunderstood the issue. My T will consistently start charging within a few hours of reaching it intended charge percentage. Does this with both of my wall connectors. I have gotten accustomed to immediately removing the charging handle after the truck reaches its intended percentage to...
  19. Rivian Wall Charger oscillates in charging rate, support says normal?

I am using Tesla J1772 wall charger and I get this occasionally. Rebooting truck has cured each time so far. Hard reboot
  20. 12 V Battery Service

Need to do some research for the specifics but I read somewhere if a product manufacturer mandates you use their version of a component and will not sell it to you they must repair/replace at their cost by federal law
