Rivian posted an Instagram post for the California Dune version of the truck and the suspension can easily be heard. Sounds just like my early Gen 1 (3000 vin). I think the improvements are probably all in Gen 2 owners heads. ?‍♂

Ha, I noticed that too! Clunks after every bump…

Our G1 had them replaced last year for what I believe are G2 parts. Front air springs have PT00614437C with the Firestone sign. Rear air springs have PT00384162D with Firestone sign as well.
I do remember seeing a Tri motor at the service center with the same rear dampers as I have on our G1.
yes, according to the Rivian parts system you received the very latest front air springs and rear air springs which are now a revision or two earlier than the very current ones.

However, I think it’s the rear dampers that make the most difference in ride quality. Since you own a very late 2023 Quad you already have a later revision of the rear dampers (probably C20005539-D) which likely solved most of the problems the 2022 LE models had (C20005539-C.)

How can we access the parts system?

My R1T is awaiting me to pickup after two weeks of me trying to get them to look at issues that are symptoms of the FSAM-1507 such as: shaking especially at high speeds, uncontrollable jerk especially when turning, alignment is off, and steering wheel is aligned off center towards left. Their, Atlanta Rivian Service Center, answer has been I need to buy new tires first and that should fix the issue. The total mileage on the truck since new is 11,893. A service rep said that’s about normal for when tires start to need to be changed. I stated in no way would I buy 4k set of tires from Rivian if the tires they use last less than 12k miles. Th dry refuse to check the issues I described above until I put new tires on. Mind you, one issue that can be caused by improper tightening of hub knuckle is worn tires. My tires they say measure 2mm at 11,893 miles. Rivian recall is to inspect, tighten, and replace hub knuckle bolts and other parts associated with issue. Now I have scheduled to another Rivian service center 3 hours away to look at it, and see if they will check the concerns out plus let’s see if Rivian takes responsibility for the concerns that most likely were the cause of the hub knuckle. Unbelievable how they won’t use common sense to be able to relate the issues and their own recall.
Any updates to your issue. I recently had the knuckle tightening service done and now I have the steering issues you described

I just had my R1S serviced for the first time. I mentioned to the tech that my front right tire had little clearance when parked. Lo and behold, the tech determined there was a leak in my air spring so they replaced my entire front suspension (dampers, air springs, and jounce lines.)

My 2023 R1S originally had what seems to be the oldest version of the front dampers:

Right: C100055320-A
Left: C100055318-A

The replacments they installed are the ones that were used on the 2024 R1S:

Right: PT00055320-C
Left: PT00055318-C

The air springs my car came with were:

Right: C100055319-B
Left: C100055317-B

They replaced them with the 2024 version:

Right: PT00055319-D
Left: PT00055317-D

Since the dampers and air springs are fitted together into one piece, Rivian has one part # for the entire assembly:

Right: PT00614436-C
Left: PT00614437-C

While I think the rear dampers likely make the biggest difference in ride quality, the next generation front dampers/air springs do subtlety improve some ride characteristics like vibrations, bounciness, etc. Nice to have them, especially for free! (Would be around $6K to have this done out of pocket.)

I just got new dampener for both sides / retrofit and new jounce lines / retrofit.

It does sounds better along with new halfshafts and hubs.

I am currently at ~ 28,000 miles on my Quad Motor June 2023 build R1S.

I appreciate Rivian and my local service center taking care of this concern.

That sounds terrible. To me, that sound is more of the dampers hitting their stops. I think it's different than the halfshaft rattle. I could be wrong.

Thank you to everyone here for all of the information.

I had my truck since July 2022 and many countless attempts of getting them to help resolve ... with many responses of it's normal, can't hear it etc. and finally today it's replaced/resolved.

They didn't replace the shaft or the dampers but at least happy that there's acknowledgment I'm not crazy and hearing noises.

So the suspension noise you were trying to get resolved this whole time was the jounce squeaking?

This has been a known Gen1 issue for a long time and they have a new subassembly that improves it about 90%. That baffles me it took so long to implement a known fix for you.

Yeah I'm baffled too. And yes the jounce really made a difference. I don't have the clunking noise, maybe some but not noticeable unless I'm looking for it. I tried to get them to update the shaft and dampers but they ignored it since the technician didn't hear any clunking noise.

Did I miss something? What part of the warranty is as short as 3 years / 36k miles?
Opps, sorry mixed up with my wife's car. Also fixing up wife's car. Updated.

I still wish I knew the original damper part # on a 2024 Dual motor..... and what part # they install now.
