How long to you have to drive in highest at the 20mph first before switching to the lowest? Now another week in or so and smooth sailing in both R1S and R1T after the recalibration using the high/low settings. That soft glide is welcomed back!
Just did this for about a minute in each setting and it really does make a difference in ride comfort! Now we will just need to see how often this needs to be done. How long to you have to drive in highest at the 20mph first before switching to the lowest?
I just drove that way for a minute, and I don’t believe time is a factor. What matters is that the suspension change allows the vehicle to reach its highest and lowest positions, thereby extending its maximum range in both directions. Should we call this the suspension "soft reset"?How long to you have to drive in highest at the 20mph first before switching to the lowest?
After a quick test this seems to improve things somewhat for me too — should be able to test more soon. There still seems to be some harshness left. Service told me that a(t least one) damper needs to be replaced on my R1T — maybe that's the remainder of the harshness...I just drove that way for a minute, and I don’t believe time is a factor. What you are describing has been done for years in custom tuned suspension. There are separate valving for high speed. We just need king or some other suspension expert to create retrofit parts and this will likely be resolved.
The 2024.19 Suspension Tuning update did exactly that for me, 2022 R1T. Very comfortable ride on any terrain.I’m sure that, in time, Rivian will tune the suspension to make it comfortable to ride on any terrain, including driving on roads with asphalt cracks and potholes.
Yes, that update version made it soft for me and then somewhere along the last few updates it got stiff and harsh. This is why I did the raise and lower exercise and a couple weeks in, smooth sailing still. The 2024.19 Suspension Tuning update did exactly that for me, 2022 R1T. Very comfortable ride on any terrain.
Only recently did the ride become harsh and lose essentially any difference between firm and soft.
The high pressure efficient tires don't help but a Lexus drives like a cushy couch. This is not going to drive like that or intended to I think. Take a drive in a Macan or Cayenne and you'll see what stiff and harsh really is.I got Gen2 performance dual motor, a little over a week back. I am coming from a Lexus SUV.
The ride quality is choppy and harsh (read hard). The suspension seems non-forgiving, especially on highways where even minor road imperfections and bumps are transmitted through the cabin.
I want Rivian to succeed and they must address this issue in order to remain competitive.
I would second this. I do notice that the ride quality has deteriorated over the past few months. With 2024.19 it was great. Now passengers complain the ride is too bumpy. The 2024.19 Suspension Tuning update did exactly that for me, 2022 R1T. Very comfortable ride on any terrain.

I wonder how complicated it is for Rivian to separate ride softness for those who ride on 22" wheels versus those on 20" wheels. The 2024.19 Suspension Tuning update did exactly that for me, 2022 R1T. Very comfortable ride on any terrain.
