Checking to see if anyone has had a similar issue. My lightbar has cracking/chipping going on. Service center says it is not a warranty issue and wants to charge me over 3K. You can see that the chipping is at the edges of the lightbar and there is no damage to the vehicle is surrounding areas. No damage to paint or framing. The one on the upper left is under where the frunk covers and no way to get hit without the frunk getting hit. The service center said they have not seen this before and will not warranty it, so that is why I am reaching out to see if others have seen it and what the resolution was. Thanks in advance

Only have seen that on vehicles after an impact. It's possible you got backed into without any other trace.

That’s what I was thinking, but it would be a little weird to see it on both sides and nothing scratched along the bar?

I would push back and ask for an explanation in writing addressing why it's not covered under the 36K mi/3yr BtoB warranty (assuming your still below those warranty limits).

Ok so this is either one of two things. It’s either a defect in the product itself or it’s the result of damage.

I like the suggestion to push back. Escalate it. I am assuming it’s still under the new car warranty.

1) claiming it never happened before is not a valid reason to deny warranty coverage.

2) They need to show you or give a very detailed explanation as to how the damage occurred and what evidence lead them to that conclusion.

Lastly if they don’t budge you may have to get a 3rd party pro like a body shop to weigh in on this.

not taking sides here but …playing devils advocate for a moment…it is a frunk so in theory it’s possible something hit the light bar at loading things in/out. Looking st this though one of the defects is on the underside. Even so seems unlikely this owner would have suffered both a road impact and an impact loading/unloading.

My non expert eyes say this light bar was probably damaged during manufacturing or assembly and over time it has started to break down.
