You do realize a lot of good hard working people are being hurt by this mentality? Elon isn’t getting any of your cents here. They would be going to those who worked hard to make this EV movement even possible. Those who maintain the charging and work to help put food on their tables. Elon doesn’t take a paycheck. He only gets paid via stock.
Tough shit?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Holy crap! I used the East Greenwich RI RAN center back in early December (well before my education on charging centers...). It was my first charge since getting my R1T. Back yonder, it was $0.48 kW. I will be over on that side of the state this week, and was thinking about stopping there to juice up the truck. Checked online this morning...

$0.60 per kW? ARE THEY KIDDING ME? This isn't a BMW! WTF, is this "HyTest Electricity"? The local Tesla charging station is only $0.48kW (today). That $0.12 difference adds up fast.

I have no preference. I don't make long drives often where I need a charge, but when I do, my goal is to get to my destination in a reasonable amount of time.

I'll charge wherever it is convenient. Usually it is Tesla. The price difference is insignificant since my priority is having a nice road trip. Spending/saving an extra $10-15 is okay either way. I'd rather not drive out of my way to get to a cheaper charger.

I will say that having Tesla Superchargers available to us now has made road trip life so much easier. I personally don't get involved in politics or anything like that. Life is easier that way. Some people seem to dedicate their life (at least on social media) complaining all day one way or the other. Tesla is a cool car. Rivian is a cool car. I'm a car guy. I'm fine with anything that gets me to where I need to go in a fun way.

You do realize the value of his stock is related to the revenue and profits from Tesla, right?

You remember when Elon fired most of the Supercharger team? He obviously doesn't care about them. Tesla has a solution, fire Elon.

How about support all the hard working people on RAN team.

... I resemble this too much. RAN has been great in my area of Michigan though, makes the return trip from Chicago more palatable.

This here, but it's not always about time and distance. In the areas that I drive, the SCs are typically situated by more things that are useful compared to RAN. This weekend I charged in Kingman and my choices were a RAN that cost more, and was by a gas station and two very mediocre, low-rated fast food joints, or a SC next to a bunch of interesting things. Including a historic EV museum and a highly-rated Thai restaurant.

I am on a road trip from S.F. Bay Area, to L.A. to Phoenix, and back to L.A. My first two charges were at a RAN at $0.6x/KW; and then I only used Tesla charging stations at $o.5x the rest of the way due to convenient and price differences.

I'm just wondering if the Rivian owners are still using RAN for roadtrips because the most I have seen on this trip was one R1 at each RAN.
I'm with you. Tesla superchargers are usually cheaper, even for Rivian owners. Do better, Rivian!

I own a Tesla (unfortunately), use the Supercharger network (convenience), and have Tesla Solar (unfortunately) — so I’m fully bought into the EV transition and clean tech, and have a relevant perspective here. People absolutely have the right to vote with their wallets, especially when the figurehead of a company is openly pushing authoritarian views and actively working against the U.S. government.

Just to clarify a few things: avoiding Tesla chargers doesn’t actually hurt Tesla workers in any meaningful way. Employees aren’t paid based on how many people charge—wages are fixed. And while Elon doesn’t take a “paycheck,” he’s received billions in stock compensation directly tied to the company’s revenue and performance. So yes, choosing not to contribute to that is a valid stance.

Supporting workers and the EV movement doesn’t require blindly supporting Musk. It’s possible to care about one without endorsing the other.

Have a nice day!

I stop at that Front Royal RAN whether I need to or not. Starbucks and multiple restaurants, and pretty empty; just a good spot.
Agree. One of my favorite RANs.

The other one is in Belcamp MD.

Yes. I have used the Lebanon NH RAN recently and it was great, though expensive.

I drive roundtrip between San Diego and the SF Bay Area regularly. I use RAN at Buttonwillow and Santa Nella. I like both charging locations because of their clean bathrooms, amenities, and safety; I prefer to use RAN and support the Rivian brand and Rivian solutions; I have referral credits so it's free for me; I prefer the logistics (cable length, pull-in parking) of RAN compared to Tesla Supercharger; I LIKE SUPPORTING RIVIAN.
