Sometime when I say open trunk, it gives me some famous quote by Trump. Not kidding, about 25% of the time.Open lift gate works most reliably.
Open charge door also works well.

Can I ask in a very polite way that this thread remain a discussion of Alexa use? There are other threads to discuss your feelings about voice assistants and the privacy implications. Thanks.100% right. Wouldn’t give those companies more reasons to make money off us by selling our privacy
You have to turn location services on in the Alexa AppOh and, regardless of setting up Alexa, why doesn't it know where the truck is when I ask for directions? Isn't GPS awareness like the most basic feature a system like this should possess? Truly bizarre. When I first got the truck (brand new) Alexa seemed to think I was in California. I'd ask for directions to a local place to me and it'd give me a route that started like 3000 miles away lol. So stupid.
Seems like it was buggy the last time I drove my Rivian.I can't even get Alexa to respond to Hey Alexa... stopped after the last update. Anyone know the secret sauce?
The Alexa icon on the top of the infotainment was greyed out. I needed to do a soft reset. It came back alive.I can't even get Alexa to respond to Hey Alexa... stopped after the last update. Anyone know the secret sauce?
Alexa used to be able to connect to TuneIn but has stopped doing so. Has anyone figured out how to solve this?We know there is plenty to add still but there are some things that work better than I thought!

“Alexa…
Open trunk” (front trunk opens)
Close trunk”
Open tailgate”
Turn on lights” (cabin lights)
Turn off lights”
Volume ##” (puts volume at level)
Turn on front defrost”
Turn on rear defrost”
Turn on seat heat”
Turn up seat heat”
Turn on seat vent”
Turn on outlets” (is for vents NOT 110v)
Edit: removed mention of navigation, we know it’s not perfect and it wasn’t the point of my thread.

Not knowing what you see when you ask Alexa to use Tunein, is it possible your Tunein free Rivian subscription has expired? My free Rivian Tunein sub expired on Aug 1st...Alexa used to be able to connect to TuneIn but has stopped doing so. Has anyone figured out how to solve this?
Thanks for the note. I have a TuneIn account and works on the Rivian if turned on manually. The Alexa voice command to play something on TuneIn responds with “TuneIn radio is not supported on this device “Not knowing what you see when you ask Alexa to use Tunein, is it possible your Tunein free Rivian subscription has expired? Well then, maybe Alexa just doesn't appreciate your musical tastesThanks for the note. I have a TuneIn account and works on the Rivian if turned on manually. The Alexa voice command to play something on TuneIn responds with “TuneIn radio is not supported on this device “
You can use it in the truck just fine with the the wake word disabled so it is not “always listening”. Long hold of the right steering wheel button (instead of wake word) for those that want both, “Alexa” functionality, and privacyNo, because I shouldn’t have to let a 3rd-party company listen to and track my activity just to do something as simple as enter a destination. I don’t have to do this in any other vehicle—my 2015 Tesla handles audio prompts fine, because they use an in-house solution.
Alexa was always something that concerned me before I bought the truck. The fact that I could disable the wake word is the only reason I could overlook it.
I don’t have any of that spyware-in-a-box garbage in my house, either. Technically it’s on my phone (Apple), but I don’t use it much and the wake word is disabled there, too.
I’m not paranoid, I’ve just been around and in this industry long enough to know better than to give up privacy that I can never get back.
