Airstream latest offering, the Trade Wind 25FB, features a Canyon Red R1T in their brochure. Looks like a match made in marketing.

I attempted to upload the brochure, but even the optimized version is too large. You can still go to Airstream and download the pdf if you are interested.

Im a big fan of the flying cloud. I have been looking at the 30 ft unit with the wife but we aren't ready to pull the trigger on a new rig just yet. We picked up our Apex ultralight about 18mo ago.

Same here. It is our future "escape" plan whenever we both fully retire. Sell our home on the Oregon coast and become Airstream "snow birds". Right now that is 5 or so years away - but who knows? It's a big reason why I bought the R1T in the first place. It can handle a 30ft Airstream with ease.

We even went so far as to vacation with our R1T at South Lake Tahoe last October and stayed in an Airstream International at Zephyr Cove. It should have been awesome, and for the most part it was. The problem was the Airstream unit we rented had suffered several years of poor maintenance and many features did not work as advertised. It did prove to us that the concept was sound, so there's that.

We’ve been towing our 28’ FC with our R1T for about 1½ years now and it’s been a great experience. Much more stable in crosswinds than our Ram 1500, great acceleration and soooo quiet. One unexpected benefit is the ability to boondock and power the FC with the R1T — everything but the A/C. On average we burn about 5% charge over a 12-hour period.

Did you tow it or was it dropped off for you? If tow...what kind of efficiency numbers were you seeing?

What sort of efficiency are you seeing with the 28 and on what tires? The floorplan of this 25FB Trade Wind looks nice compared even with the 22FB Caravel.

Thank you for posting the Airstream ads with the R1T. We are hard core Airstreamers for 17 years with over 2,200 nights of Airstream camping under our belts. We have visited all of the lower 48 states, Alaska, and most of Canada. Early on, we towed with 3/4 ton Suburbans. About twelve years ago we moved up the Silverado Duramax pick-ups. We have had two Airstream 25FB's. We are now in the process of moving on to a Rivian R1T.

We took Factory Delivery of Opal (our R1T) in April of this year. We went to get her with our Airstream pulled by our Silverado. We spent a week in a campground in Normal trying out Opal and doing some test towing. Opal pulled the 25FB very well. She has the power and torque to pull the 7,500# Airstream as well as the Duramax can. The only negative issue is the lack of range when towing the Airstream. Opal's 1,711# payload is sufficient to handle the Airstream's tongue weight of 900# with enough left over for us and some cargo in the truck.

For those who have not yet RV camped with an R1T, we found that being at an RV campground with an R1T has advantages. Many campgrounds now have both 30 amp and 50 amp outlets at each campsite. On our way back home from Normal, we were able to plug the Airstream into the 30 amp outlet and Opal into the 50 amp outlet overnight. Opal got between 15 and 18 miles per hour of charge.

We are hopeful that the availability of the Tesla Supercharger Network next year will be a game changer for towing the Airstream with the R1T.

We look forward to moving on to our Rivian Airstream Adventures.

Brian

I put my pre-order in for the Trade Wind FBT as soon as I saw the Trade Wind FBQ at the Hershey show.

Selling my practically brand new 2023 NuCamp T@B 400 Boondock with lithium upgrade to make the transition. Doh!

The Airstream just fits my family’s use-case better.

Not sure how well I’ll deal with the constant charging/decoupling during long trips, but I’ve been making trips under 500 miles work ok.

That is a beautiful piece of equipment (the trailer, and the truck, LOL). We're also on Airstream's marketing list and I got that flyer but didn't notice the Riv. Nice catch! Hope we can afford an Airstream ourselves, one day. #retirementgoals

That said, am hopeful even more EV-friendly trailers like the Lightship become more widely available between now and our "hypothetical retirement", haha. ?

We have a 20 foot Flying Cloud which we love. One of the considerations for getting an R1T was the ability to tow something bigger, like the 25'.

The International Airstream we stayed at in Zephyr Cove is permanently set-up as a rental in the upper area of the resort. We did not tow it.

I have been starting to look at airstreams and the Trade Wind looks really nice but I"m not sure how it's $20k more than the 25' Flying Cloud.

That and Lithium/Inverter upgrades are significant expenses in the world of RV’s.

Add in the 3” lift, recirculating water heater, and labor and it’s easy to go crazy with pricing.

My wife and I just looked at a Trade Wind last weekend. It's nice/ok...but $141,000! Thats crazy. I guess where my wife and I are coming from...during Covid...for something to keep us busy, she bought a 1969 Shasta Camper for $500 and we totally gutted it. During our rebuild, we were planning out how we would use it, etc. We ended up putting in Battle Born LiFePO4 batteries, Victron Inverter/Charger, Rich Solar, Progresssive Ind. Surge Protector, Nature Head Composting Toilet, the list goes on (things Airstream is finally including in their $100K campers)...so yes, I know exactly the cost and the quality I can do something for. So, when I looked under the Trade Wind and saw popped rivets, bent aluminum underbelly, etc. for $141,000 no thank you. Intech for the money looks better...Olivers may be the best built for a travel trailer.

Here are some before and after pictures.
