I was very interested when I saw the reference in the 2025.26 release notes to optimizing steering performance in Sport and Off-Road modes.

I've only tried Sport Mode so far, but here are my thoughts:

I am driving a Gen1 Quad R1T on OEM 21s. I didn't notice a ton of difference around town, but I found myself driving in Sport Mode more often than previously. I liked it a little better, but couldn't put my finger on why.

Today I drove my favorite section of HWY 49 through the American River Canyon. That put a smile on my face. Previously, I felt like there was too much under-steer. Now it feels more neutrally balanced. It doesn't feel like it is scrubbing as much around the corners. Am I imagining this? Have you noticed a difference on your vehicle? (Please note which tires you are running, and whether you are Dual, Tri, or Quad.)

So - I drive a canyon road in Colorado pretty frequently as it's near my house, and I also tested the new sport mode and I'd have to agree with your feelings. Sport feels great on quick back to back turns where I didn't love it before. Also, and I may be imagining it, but the car feels more settled.

22' R1T - Quad.

No need to announce daily that Rivian hasn't rolled out the update to non-Connect+ users... Rivian Roamer and Rivian Trackr already provide that service.

Would this improve Comma steering torque on Gen 1 with stock 21ā€ wheels with Pirellis?

G1 R1T quad. Sport is much more refined thru transition corners. The soft suspension setting feels a little more dynamic and firm, but that is based on feel. The update also added enhancements to the off road and drift modes for gravel roads. Have not tried those yet, but am excited to test them as I was previously very satisfied with the performance driving highish speeds on loose, curvy, and bumpy gravel.

Or he could just have some patience - like was discussed in the other thread that he opened on this same topic.

I finally did a quick morning mountain rip, and same G1 Quad T. Sport>Lowest>Firm
Rivian R1T R1S Sport Mode improvement via Update 2025.26 - what's your experience? 1756304957843-dx

I second your impressions, Sport>soft feels a little less forgiving than it used to, but that could just be due to some of the less forgiving Vancouver roads I've been driving lately. Going into, around, and punching it out of a hairpin corner feels like the steering maintains it's line better, and almost feels as though they've tuned some of the torque vectoring a bit to better cope?

Even though it was a spirited run, I wasn't able to get on the route prior to the spandex warriors this morning, so had to be more cautious in and around some of the corners, so I wasn't able to get the tires to the point where they were on their traction limit. Still fun though.

For anyone that's interested

Starting elevation was 180m, turnaround point was 900m at the top. SOC start was around 54% unfortunately I don't remember SOC at the top.

On the way up I managed to see 560kW going to the drivetrain, and while it said 136.4kW of regen in a couple places, service was spotty and any full hits of regen were only briefly logged. Battery temp around the start was 24c, by the top it was around 38c, bottom was 42c. Rear motors got the hottest at around 97c with the fronts around 87-90c. Ambient was 16c

No, they have nothing to do with eachother.
