RJ Selling Rivian Stock

I do not want to alarm anyone, but I thought this info merits a post. Since Dec 2025, RJ Scaringe has been selling huge amounts of Rivian stock. On 12/23/2025, sold 17450 shares, and on 01/06/2026 sold 17450 shares, and on 01/20/2026 sold another 17450 shares, and on 02/18/2026, sold 34900 shares, and on 03/03/2026, sold 17450 shares and on 03/17/2026 sold 17450 shares. That's a total of 122150 shares he sold, valued at $2,114,924.31. I, myself, have stock and a reservation for an R2. Perhaps I am just overthinking this information. No, this doesn't merit a post. Corporate officers are under strict regulations in the US by the SEC for stock sale and timing.

This was likely set 6 months ago. Possibly (much) longer.

Yes, these are planned in advance, this is just noise. There are many factors going on in his personal life that we just don't know. I have zero doubt he is nothing but all in on the future of Rivian.

There is nothing wrong with any company officer selling their restricted shares once they vest for whatever reason.

That said, I do not believe RJ was acting on some material data or info about Rivian ahead of public awareness or loss of confidence in the company. Its probably the case he just wanted to have some funds.

These are very small amounts in light of his ownership % and options (dependent on milestones).
Sales were executed under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan and are common for executives to manage liquidity/taxes. As others have pointed out, he also went through a divorce. I would suggest next time asking a chatbot if these sales were material before posting.
