Odd issue - Steering wheel position changed by itself

Thereā€™s only one explanation ā€¦ My seat sometimes misbehaves (I have roomy entry/exit turned on). I cannot find any correlation, except one, and thatā€™s if the car goes to sleep while itā€™s unlocked, seems to happen more often.

    20” Bright wheels apparently discontinued

They announced that a while back, but kept then around for a bit longer than expected. Itā€™s a bummer - I like them. Especially since they open up all sorts of options for color customization.

    2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology First Look: The all-electric G is here

At least we can all point at something with definitively worse aerodynamics.

Tesla FSD Full Self Driving & Rivian ?

I donā€™t want Tesla software in my RIvian. Full stop. If I want Tesla tech Iā€™ll buy a Tesla.

    R1T wind buffeting is bad.

Iā€™ve never had a car where I could only open the rear windows and not feel like my eardrums were going to blow out. The buffeting is bad on the R1T, but IMO no worse than any other vehicle Iā€™ve owned. Was so bad on my last Tundra Iā€™d actually lock out the windows so my kids didnā€™t accidentally...

New Products: MOLLE Panel and NACS to CCS Adapter Cover

Thatā€™s a really good idea, thanks. Pushing the NACS end in first prior to plugging in the entire assembly into the truck is a little tricky, and I could easily see myself yeeting my new A2Z adapter when Iā€™m out trying to charge in the rain. Naturally, my aim would land the adapter first on my...

Car died after 6 days of delivery

Good news that they got it diagnosed so quickly. This is the first Iā€™ve heard of the heater module failing but it does make a lot of sense given the symptoms you described. fwiw catastrophic failures are rare - surprisingly so for a new OEM and new vehicle. That said, it happed to you which...

    Auto climate control?

Rivian absolutely perform(s)(ed) interior temp control to protect electronics - esp the displays. Iā€™ve seen it first hand a number of times. Unclear if it still does as it hasnā€™t gotten hot enough here since last summer. May have been deprecated in software if it wasnā€™t necessary per Rivian...

Brake Failure and Axle Boot Tear

Brake fluid is relatively clear. Itā€™s difficult to see with the mess that your CV joint made as to what other leaks may be in there. If some debris/etc managed to slice your CV it may also have damaged your brake line.

Rivian charger or Tesla universal charger?

Welcome to the EV club! Definitely familiarize yourself with some of the details of EV ownership - terminology, charging networks (itā€™s a mixed bag at best), adapters, etc. The Rivian is by far our best EV of the three weā€™ve owned, and IMO much better than the last gas truck we had.

Rivian charger or Tesla universal charger?

ā€œMiles per hourā€ is dependent on the efficiency of the vehicle. What the vehicle accepts in terms of kW (and amperage) will determine how quickly - or slowly - the battery can charge.

Rivian charger or Tesla universal charger?

The Rivian charger is fine, but doesnā€™t provide any real useful features except you can see it in the Rivian app (but canā€™t control it, at least with whatever s/w version mine is on). Personally, I prefer super dumb chargers. Theyā€™re cheap, donā€™t break, and donā€™t get fussy with questionable...

Reno to Tucson... Can't get there from here.

Reno->Vegas if staying entire in Nevada is doable, but sketchy. The charging infrastructure along 95 simply doesnā€™t exist in quantity or quality. If youā€™re willing to go 395 via Bishop, itā€™s much more doable and much less sketchy, but that last stretch Bishop->Vegas is >250 miles without a...

    Air Compressor - help

Does yours run high, or keep running until you manually shut it off? Iā€™ve got the latter problem - never shuts off. The compressor is known to under-read the pressure by around 4psi, so in theory, if youā€™re aiming for 48, you should set the compressor to 44. I did that a few minutes ago...

    Air Compressor - help

Fellow Geniuses - what is the expected behavior of the air compressor? Iā€™m 18 months into ownership, use the compressor infrequently. However, every time Iā€™ve tried, I get the same behavior: 1) Set compressor to desired PSI 2) Press start 3) Panic and disconnect because itā€™s clear weā€™ve blown...

    “I’ll be back”

Thatā€™s a good sign. Weā€™ve seen a dramatic drop in bugs due to pesticide use, and theyā€™re coming back. At least thatā€™s my assumption based on the carnage on my truck after a trip to socal a few weeks ago.

Reno to Tucson... Can't get there from here.

Take 395 to Bishop, charge to 100%, then head to Vegas. Itā€™s about 260 miles to the next charger but you should be able to make it just fine in conserve if you keep a light foot.
