So, if your R2 is in transit you can call the Rivian sales line and ask exactly where the R2 is. I confirmed today mine has left STL and should arrive to the SC late this week or early next week.

Picked the R2 up today. 9 miles on the odometer. Fit and finish is very good.

My VIN has been stuck on a railcar for a week in Normal without moving. My guide offered me the option of unmatching and getting a new VIN and doing factory pickup in Normal. Tempted to do it since it avoids rail delays and possible transit damage.

But worry it could take longer to match to a new VIN then I save in transit.

White does seem to be an easier VIN to match to though, vs Launch Green and Catalina Cove.

After talking to my guide, took their advice and unmatched my VIN and switched to factory pickup. Now we wait for a new VIN.

Old was 1830, new is 1345.

Are people talking to someone more specific than the [email protected] email or the associated phone number? Is that the "guide"? Just wondering how people are getting so much transit detail and factory pickup options, as the couple of messages I've exchanged with them have been friendly but short, with not much detail on their end.

As far as I can tell, my car is still sitting at the plant, and I'm strongly considering asking for a factory pickup if it means I can just fly out to Illinois and drive back. Not sure how that will work with my trade-in though...

Call this number 888-748-4261 select the sales option. Let the person know you have an R2 order and wanted to know where the car is as you are finalizing financing. Then you can ask, has it left the plant? Has it left the STL depot. They will tell you. My direct guide is also very good as I have a direct text number to message them.

I sort of did the opposite when I first got my R1S. Picked it up at the STL SC then drove to the east coast, ab 1000 miles, to visit the old folks home on a whim to see how this charging network thing works.

I just really wonder what happens if Rivian accomplishes their goals and gets the R2 to Tesla 3/Y-esque sales volume. Massive delays everywhere when they're only delivering 1-2k cars a month, and plans to delivery 10-30x that eventually.

I'm hoping Rivian wouldn't have to deliver the Tesla 3/Y volume any time soon. I would like to enjoy Rivian as a standout nice looking vehicle and not another Toyota of EV like Tesla is.

You arranged the factory pickup through a guide on the phone? Did they offer factory pickup as an option, or did you ask about it? Curious about doing this as well. had heard earlier they weren't offering it. I'll hopefully be placing my order very soon and obv I want the vehicle asap, but also like the idea of helping them get them out the door faster! only issue i see is having to rent a car or somehow get to normal from airport in chicago...

I gotta give kudos to Rivian for a quick turnaround in assigning a new VIN for me. Now I’m in the 042xx area. Just waiting on scheduling now.

Based on Reddit, looks like another batch of order invites went out today. So the theory of every 2 weeks isn’t entirely accurate.
