Only if it was on the passenger side...
Such a better solution for towing and oh, not having to back in. I assume for rear model less wires etc but like the front passenger solution since we "must" work to V2 that v3/4 and other companies have rectified with longer cords.

Guess we need to start making an R2 checklist for pickup.
Not this again ... WHY? Do you really think that Rivian is going to refuse to fix something you noticed after delivery? They have no history of that. Do I you really think you can find all potential problems at delivery? Not likely at all, and if you do a thorough inspection there that kind of weakens your case for a warranty repair later. (I.e. if the door wasn't misaligned when you did your thorough inspection, then you can't come back in a week and say it was like that when I got it ...) Are you really going to reject delivery and demand another vehicle because of a misaligned door, rather than giving them a chance to fix it?

I think a lot of people have been deeply scarred by their experience with Tesla, and have trust issues.

I suggest doing a walk-around like you would for a rental car. And if you're paranoid video the walk-around for documentation. Look for damage like cracked glass, dents, etc. that is normal wear and tear that is more likely to be your responsibility (if found a month later) than a factory flaw. But take the vehicle home regardless, spend time to see if there's any initial quality issues that need to be addressed, then schedule 1 appointment (with free loaner vehicle) to get them all fixed under warranty.

It's exactly the reason why it's in the rear, less copper for HV wiring to the inverter that is part of the charging process.

12V Battery likely. Why does everyone accept delivery with such obvious flaws so you have to go back to get them to fix it? How can it leave the factory that way?

It's as if Rivian has learned nothing in the last 2 years. No better way to lose money that to do the same job twice instead of correctly the first time.

THANK YOU EARLY ADOPTER TEST PILOTS!
I'm either skipping R2 entirely or waiting until there is an "X" model (or 3 motor variant).....by then, many of the early bugs (that are generally reasonably expected in a brand new vehicle model (and particularly from a newer manufacturer) should be worked out (or at least known).....

Sorry for OP's suffering, hopefully its a quick and easy fix.
Wouldn’t the X be a brand new model?

The R2 should have the kinks worked out. The Gen 2 R1 seems to report more problems than Gen 1s. Rivian is not a new manufacture anymore. They need to fix these QC problems fast. The R2 seems to be very popular and the word will spread fast if multiple R2 owners begin to experience QC problems.

Gremlins happen with any new model. Early adopters should prepare for this.

My MS was around the 40,000th made in the history of Tesla and it had its own gremlins still. They even replaced both electric motors over a noise. As long as Rivian stands behind its product and fixes the issues in a timely manner then I think owners should be satisfied. And I appreciate their sacrifices so that those of us who won't get one for several months end up with a higher quality delivery and ownership experience.

I agree with hsctiger. I had Tesla Roadster #690 and Model S #112. Sure, both had some issues. But the company's service was very different then - it had to be. They really worked hard to take care of issues and make things as easy as possible on us.

Sure, a car with no issues would have been better. But looking back, I definitely view the ownership of those early vehicles as positive. I am glad that I did not wait. And of course, I hope Rivian works as hard to correct any issues...my R2 is on the way...

My R1S, by the way, has only had one issue in over 3 years - it came with a bent pin in a wiring harness, so the 120V outlets didn't work. It took a few months to get an appointment to get that fixed, but it was not a critical issue.

TBH, I don't think any new R2 owners should be surprised at all when they discover flaws and glitches on their brand new R2 SUVs because it's a new model from a still relatively new company. Indeed, I think it would be naive to think otherwise. Ironically, they are paying premium prices to be beta testers. I fully expected a slate of problems to be solved with my Gen 2 R1T because it was still a new company with limited manufacturing experience, but surprisingly, in my case, the only real flaw I discovered was a whistling driver's window, which the local SC fixed, once they got the parts needed.

There will undoubtedly be other flaws and problems that crop up in the R2, and no, there is no need to panic or conclude that Rivian is a shoddy brand (yet), I mean anyone with any awareness of manufacturing and delivery of a new automotive model (along with training the service techs on it) should be very clear-eyed about what they are purchasing. Yes, you are going to find flaws in your brand new vehicle. Hopefully they will be relatively minor nuisances. As long as Rivian faithfully fixes them, you should be fine. Worse case is that there will be a model-wide recall -- but that happens even to the long-established brands who've been doing it for decades.

And as for as the charge door, I think it's a miss aesthetically; IMHO if they kept the horizontal line to the fender, it would look better and any minor misalignment would be harder to see.

List:

1. Check charge port door for alignment.

it’s not a long list. 👍
