Blue Steel was in the shop for a little more than a week (took them 4 hours to find a dirty connector that was shutting the car down- at least that was the only problem) and I got a loaner with FSD. Won't get another Tesla (R2 reservation) but the feature was really nice.
I assume whatever...
I was talking about their service department. They tried to charge $500 in labor to install two cross bars and didn't tell us what it would cost (the job took less than 1 minute); they tried to charge us $1500 for a "no cost inspection"; they tried to charge us to remove the name and personal...
I'd personally pay more to never have to set foot in a dealership ever again. Elon may be crazy but the ownership experience in a non-dealership setting is heavenly. Meanwhile, our local Mercedes dealership continues to try to screw us every. single. time. I guess there are plenty of stupid rich...
I dunno. Just can't see it working. Maybe if I saw in person I'd change my mind but I ain't waiting if my number gets called (lotto's chance in hell, but anything's possible). Also, my kids are grown so I don't need to worry about stains on a white interior. The dog, however...
It's fun doing the configurator even though I know it's just for kicks and giggles ATM.
And I test drove an R1S a while ago so I pretty much know what I'm getting into with an R2. Another test drive isn't a big deal. Would be nice especially if I know my reservation won't get called up for...
I have considered this route as well since my Model S is 12 years old and has 160k miles on it. Wife hates riding in it for the negative attention she thinks we draw. I've experienced some things including vandalism but not enough for that to make such a difference. Maybe I look/drive like a...
Since I have an R2 reservation but have never owned one, can someone explain to me the Service Center communication process? Sounds like it goes through an app where the failure point is an AI agent that needs some work. Fair assumption?
I've commented on the horrificness of my local Tesla SC...
2014 Model S owner with a late R2 reservation here. The car has been amazing over 158k miles and it still looks great despite it serving as a dog car and a baseball gear car. I upgraded the computer, too, but no FSD on a car that old. The Richmond, VA Service Center is another matter though...
Firstly, this is a really pleasant message board. Thanks everyone for civility and remaining focused on the topics. Good to know we have rational adults remaining in this country.
Secondly, I'm with you. It's a green for me and originally I thought forest but the pics of launch green in real...
Interesting story since my 2014 Tesla Model S went into similar mode when it got really, really, really cold. Maybe the same snow storm. But I got a similar response from the Tesla SC. They couldn't see me for about that long and I would have to figure out how to get it towed.
The weather warmed...
12 year Tesla owner here and I've witnessed the decline of their Richmond VA Service Center first hand. You can't get an appointment there for at least 30 days, and that's after they sent in a special team to try and reduce the backlog. Loaner? Forget about it. But they have a lot full of...
If grab handles are a deal breaker for you, there's a mobility company called Stander Mobility that makes items that help mobility-challenged folks enter and exit different things like bathtubs and cars and beds. I met their founder a few years ago. Some really nice dudes working there.
That...
OK, so I'm partially with you on this having driven about 160k miles in my EV. On one side, use the dadgum battery. It's there, it has range.
On the other, and I've noticed this happening now with my Tesla Nav, short bursts of charging are better tolerated by those who have shorter attention...
2014 Model S owner here. 85kwh battery. Started at 256 miles. Now at about 223 miles of charge. I also subscribe to Recurrent, which tells me my battery is about 85% to what it used to be after 12 years and 160,000 miles which is comparable to other Recurrent subscribers. But I've done...
Just put my reservation in. Hope to see some movement late this summer or this fall. Not in a rush.
I had pondered R1 and really loved the drive but my wife got nervous about a $100k car. Even if some of the extras cost extra, this is more our budget.
OK. Please forgive me since I'm lazy and don't quite follow everything as closely as I should. I appreciate all the people who are and their posts here. Incredibly educational. Thank you.
Questions, though:
I'm looking to finally replace my 2014 Model S with a Rivian probably(?) this summer. I...
This is the sense I get. Which makes me
Wonder why there are some really low mileage rivians out there. Like 5k miles . Are these the problem children?
The charging brings up a good question. My wife also despises sitting for 30 minutes to let my Tesla charge. I always prefer the breaks since I'm driving and it's a great chance to stretch my legs. She just wants to get there.
What's been your real-world charging time experience on long road...
