When you say scoop do you mean how it was leaked beforehand and they just ChatGPT'd a post about it?
Easy to be the first to bring news like this to the public when you've got no problem being unconscionable.

You make a very valid point. Back to the topic at hand, Gen 1 owners won't be happy.

I assume they dropped the tank turn from Gen 1 because they knew it would be expensive to warranty and they were selling a $100k truck for $80k at launch to 100% of customers.

Now the Electric G has tank turn, the Quad will cost $115k-$125k and only a fraction of buyers will opt for the completely-unnecessary 1000 hp quad over the tri, and they'll still get all the viral video views. Tank turn is a go!

As a Gen 1 quad owner I do not expect them to give me this feature, and if they do I expect they will charge for it to cover the warranty repairs.

If the rumor about the delay for the quad was because they were breaking halfshafts is true, the introduction of tank turn would be a pretty good reason for that.

I had to go into DC yesterday and park in what had to be one of the tightest parking garages known to mankind. Tank turn sure would've come in handy. 😜

Here's at least one that is still happy with his gen1.
Place me in this group as well. The "online world" (forums/reddit/insta-face-tok, etc.) tends to tunnel vision their thinking and assume the masses share the same opinion. This combined with enthusiasm for the product, tech, brand... whatever it may be tends to portray that all subjects & relative comments made are the mass reality when in truth, we represent a VERY small percentage of actual owners.

Go ahead and also place me in the group of "still happy to be getting regular substantial product improvements, 3 years after purchase" category.

They might have needed to beef up the half shafts for the additional tq/power is so that might make sence why the now are ok with giving this the green lights. I recently sold my Gen one for an escalade IQ (and completely regret it). The IQ has 10 degrees of rear stearing and that is amazing and one thing the rivian is missing. But other than that the Rivian is better in every way. I am still holding my gen 2 quad preorder and am probably going to come back asuming they make something more to distinguish the quad - even if its just a special edition like the dune but that is only quad.

Here's at least one that is still happy with his gen1. I have no desire to do a tank turn even if it were available on mine LOL.
Very happy with mine as well. 😁

Idk, "Available on the R1T and R1S :)" seems pretty official coming from @rivianofficial

You might have to cover the garage floor with kitty litter first.
