Which one do you prefer? Kagu/3D mats vs Tuxmat (including seatbacks and cargo area)

After reading closer, it looks like the TuxMat product isn't currently being shipped to the US, so I guess the question is moot, for the time being.

Thanks for letting me know! I ended up ordering the 3D Mats along with the Lasfit for the rear/rear tailgate! Lasfit are due to arrive today and 3D next week. I'll see how they do and report back!

I have the @3Wliners mats in my Model Y and Cybertruck and they fit perfectly, easy to clean and no off-gassing. I should have gotten them for my R1S but fell for the OEM Rivian ones in the Gear Shop which fit terribly - it's almost Temu-quality fitment.

In particular, would you take an extra moment and let us know how the two-piece tailgate protectors workout. How they fasten onto the carpet and how they close since they stack on the top of each other.

I contacted them to see if they sell the tail gate only and currently they said no. They will consider it if there are enough interests in the future - so they said...

How do you like them? Also, did your second row 3D mats include the plastic buttons to allow you to properly secure them to the floor using the original faster locations?

We received our 3D/Kagu mats yesterday. The first row and 3rd row floor area sections contained the expected fastener pieces, but they were missing in the second row (whereas on their website, they show as present - see photos below - first shot from website, next 3 closeups of the connection points without the "buttons").

As received/installed, the second row does not secure to the floor like the other two rows. I've written to 3D Mats and am awaiting their reply.

I attempted to install the Lasfit cargo mat and tailgate protector this morning. The cargo mat fit OK, but wasn't too impressive, tbh. The forward section has a split to allow for a flap to bend up if either or both of the 3rd row seats are in the upright position. It's OK, but it doesn't play well with the 3D back protectors which I prefer vs the Lasfit back protectors.

On to the tailgate protection by Lasfit:

To be honest, the tailgate protection mats were the primary reason I ordered the Lasfit set as nobody else, with the exception of the Canvasback solution, seems to offer anything (wait, there is someone else ???/blanking on the name...that offers a rubber/plastic mat solution that is one piece and slides up above the tailgate when closed).

Anyway, when I attempted to install the Lasfit pieces to the tailgate, I noticed that the lower piece appears to be too large as it interferes with closing the tailgate. Meanwhile, the upper piece, to properly function, would need to be extended to run under the larger, lower section as, without that, it interferes with the closing of the tailgate as well. It either butts up against the upper section and prevents the tailgate from easily closing and/or it results in the smaller upper section pulling partially loose as it buckles from the lower section pushing against it.

Here are a couple photos of the tailgate pieces, with the pre-installed velcro showing on the second shot. I have requested a return label and a refund for the Lasfit mats (the complete set) as they don't deliver on the functionality that is most important to my use case (i.e., tailgate protection).

The 3D Mats for the second row did have the plastic buttons. A couple seemed difficult to snap. That is coming from a 74 year old. Hand strength is not what it use to be.

My 3D also had plastic clips on the back just like the front that clip to the floor. What does the under side of yours look like?

+1 for the Tuxmats. I ordered last year when their site said it would fit 2025 R1S. Every mat fits great and has amazing coverage except the driver's due to the slight floor change. It still fits, but is a little awkward over the new bump.

Shortly after getting them, I reached out to Tuxmat and was told they were working on a 2025 fitment and they would send me one when it was ready.

Re-reached out this week and apparently they are planning for 2025 version ready to ship in August.

Canvasback for the rear. Mostly for the tailgate protection pieces. They fit perfect and slide over each other well unlike any of the rubber mat options I've seen. Went with the full large cargo cover for max continuous coverage rather than individual pieces for the 3rd row seats as our 3rd row is almost always down. The side panel armrest covers are slick as well.

Tuxmat seat rear covers are fastened by using Velcros on the corners (see circular corner attachments). I have had the now for 9 months and have not had a single issue. It has stayed on without falling off. The 2nd row seats are up all the time and the 3rd row is down most of the time.

Thanks! They must use a different type of adhesive material (a more effective version) than 3D Mats. 3D Mats stitches one piece of velcro to the seatback cover and then relies on a mild adhesive to stick the other piece to the back of the seat. Here's what my 2nd row seatbacks looked like a couple hours after attaching them in my car. The adhesive didn't keep the second piece of velcro on the seatback at all. On a positive note, it didn't leave any residual mess either, but it certainly was NOT effective.

The only portion touching the seatbacks any longer was the part pinned against it by the 3rd row seats which were down. SMH

No Tuxmat in back for me. They look sweet though, and the fit of that trunk section is fire.

@mkg3 how are the tailgate sections for protection, and sliding over each other when opening/closing? Or are those not Tuxmat?

At the time, when I was looking, 3D didn't have the seat back liners. If they did, I probably would have gotten them since I also had their cargo liner already. Since then, I'ver replaced the whole thing by Tuxmat.

I think part of the solution for the Tuxmat staying attached to the back of the seat is that the liner itself is stiff. So it really doesn't/cannot easily fold over.

I was hesitant about the velcro but the Tuxmat guy said it will work so I gave it a go.

This image below is kit they sell to cover the seat backs and the cargo area. The only negative side is that when I need to use the floor flat, I kept my 3D liner and have to replace the Tuxmat contoured cargo mat.
