Oh and I want to be able to order tacos and watch Hulu on this screen too. Jesus people. Does the cup have to be always half empty? This is good step from what we’ve had and possibly way more info than the average and below user can handle. I can already picture overreactions to charging curves; just like how people thought they had overheating motors when they saw orange.

Curious, how many do not use the built in Navigation, which triggers pre-conditioning when heading to a charger. This manual option is indeed welcome for those who don't!

There are chargers that exist that aren't in the nav or have their power listed incorrectly, etc. For example, Ionna stations are not currently in the nav and are starting to be installed around the country.

Also (to give you another use), if you are going to go downhill for a while, if the battery is not properly pre-conditioning, you would have limited Re-gen on the way down.

Last March in my trip to Colorado, I set a charger (that I didn't need) on the bottom of a big descent (Loveland pass), my battery was nice and warm and I was able to have Re-gen ALL the way down. On my way back home, my battery was colder and I didn't find a close enough charger to assign (I did select a Tesla SC that was further away) and I couldn't regen all the way down to Denver. I got limited re-gen multiple times.

So, this would help :)

This! Will be a massive help for me and anyone else in mountainous regions.

Would be good if the vehicle did this automatically as it should know navigation waypoints and elevation changes and optimize battery temp to be able to utilize regen vs friction brakes.

How do you tell if your regen is limited on such descents?

In Canada, one of the most major players in BC, BCHydro was completely absent from the Rivian navigation for the better part of 2 years, at times one software update would add them, then they'd be absent for 6 months, then back then gone completely. Not taking credit here, as others had reached out to Rivian through their CS channel, but It really wasn't until I reached out to Wassym directly on the subject, that it got fully sorted in a subsequent update. Thanks Wassym by the way!

BCHydro, the primary energy provider in BC, has built out an extremely reliable network of then 50kW chargers, which they've since upgraded to 200+kW dispensers along with greater density. Instead of 2 chargers at a given site, there are now 6 DCFC's and around the same 19kW Level 2's.

For the longest time you'd have to select a random charger in the area to try to precondition. Hence the need for manual preconditioning as you pointed out. What was frustrating was planning larger trips and knowing that BCHydro (as my main example) has chargers in several remote corridors, only to have to plan in other apps trying to take into account steep mountain passes, and bad weather conditions. It really makes one appreciate the in built nav.

Best part in my opinion, something already seen in Porsche, is current max charging capacity in realtime! Finally!

I wonder how accurate that number will be in the winter time. I can't wait to see if I can get it to say 0.

I can confirm that if it says 200 kW max, I managed to charge at 215 kW for a good 20 min. I have a charging video coming this weekend.

When navigating, I wonder if it does a projected energy use vs actual use graph, like Tesla does (if they still do.....)
