No Longer Wish to Use Tesla Supercharger Network

Anyone else have zero desire to utilize the Tesla Supercharger Network unless they absolutely must?

I use what's more convenient for me. I do understand people not using a brand/product because it doesn't align with their morals/opinions or whatever, I'm all for that.

IF I have the option between A and B, and I have not great feelings about A, then I would use B even if it's a bit more expensive for me to do so. But if A is WAY more convenient and cheaper than B, I would use A (as long as they don't labor-exploit children that are smuggled into the country or something like that).

If the owner of A is an asshole or from XYZ political party or whatever, I don't care as long as the product offered is good.

Morals: i.e.: I'm Argentinian and I could easily vacation in CUBA which would be very cheap for me to do so living here in the States... BUT I would never do so, otherwise, I would be providing financial support to a Communist Dictatorship and that goes against my morals.

But for charging? hey, whatever is more convenient :)

For Me this is a really hard question to answer, thus no response in the poll.

Not a fan of EM, especially with his antics being increasingly more disturbing over the last 6+ years. My big problem is a hard cancel of Tesla affects so many more people way more than would impact him. They have around 120k global employees of which 60k are in the US. A lot of those are high paid positions (all are above average paid positions) so the impact to the local economy as that lost income trickles through other services could be substantial. With a lot of retirement funds holding significant investments in Tesla (although they are starting to divest) that makes the negative impact larger.

My stance, still drive our 9 year old Model S, charge exclusively at superchargers because it has lifetime free supercharging and free premium data connectivity. Have zero plans on purchasing a new Tesla even though our Model S has been a great car but see no value in getting rid of the one I have.

With my R1S I have had great success traveling charging at non-Tesla stations. I look for those stations first but will use Tesla if I need to.

Sorry about your job loss.

I wouldn't have bought a Rivian if I couldn't use the Tesla network. Full stop!

If I stopped using companies, that someplace, somewhere, people thought their CEOs were nut jobs, I'd have no place left to shop, eat, seek entertainment, etc.

Taking politics out of the equation, while I think Elon can be a bit of wildcard,
I do support a thorough review of how we spend our tax money from top to bottom. Nobody complained much when Zuck wanted to move fast and break things.
Ding Ding Ding....

Look I get it. My decisions DO NOT MATTER in the grand scheme of things. My choices only serve my ego and sense of morality, possibly baser instincts.
This cuts both ways. Money is speech and while your voice alone might not be heard, if enough people are saying the same thing, then they're hard to ignore.

Only you know if you're virtue signaling through your actions or posting your question here, but putting your money where your mouth is generally implies commitment.

I keep the adapter in the frunk, but on road trips, I don't go out of my way to use Tesla. They do work well, but I've found the prices to be quite a bit higher, up to double the price of RAN in some places.

Sorry for your job loss, if it happens!
not to get too political, but this very well shouldn’t happen. there are supposed to be civil service protections and private citizens (the owner of said network) shouldn’t be in charge of personal decisions on his political or business whims.

Musk is going to be responsible for way more than 120k federal employees losing their jobs. If Tesla employees see the writing on the wall, they've got time to look elsewhere still.

Under these circumstances I think you're continued used is actually a burden to their company and not putting money in his pocket.
Sounds like a solid ethical choice.

Think I may have to work up a bumper sticker for Tesla owners. Something like: " I bought this before we knew he was a Nazi "

I DCFC so infrequently that it's of little consequence to me which I choose. I don't plan my trips based around avoiding a charging station on principle. If a particular EA or Tesla site favors my route in a way that lets me get there faster, cheaper, or with amenities that I prefer, I'll choose that one. On my last trip I stopped at an EA station because I needed to go to Sam's Club, and there was one next to the station, so I stopped there.

I still plan to check Plugshare before my trips to see that EA stations will be operational if I choose to take one though. If I've done little to no planning, however, I'm more likely to look for a supercharger.

I have an R1S and absolutely love it. I usually charge at home, but this fall took a girls road trip and subscribed to the Tesla Charger network for a month only. I didn't want to mess around looking for chargers like I do when it is just my husband and me. It totally paid for itself the first day.

I know a lot of people don't care for Elon. All I can say is that EV's, the North America charging network, feeling like you can have independence from foreign oil, and feeling like you are not adding to air pollution would not be the same if he hadn't been born. I am glad he moved forward with his idea (and other ideas he has had) as if he hadn't I am sure I wouldn't have my EV road trip options that I have now. 20 years ago, my prediction was that everyone would be driving hydrogen powered vehicles...
