Rotating tires at America's Tire

Rivian charges to rotate tires. Americas Tire does it for free. I looked underneath the car, and I just saw black moulding. Some people won’t get things done at Americas Tire, since they have had bad experiences. I think Rivian should be simple enough to jack up and rotate tire. Anyone have good experience?

Search this topic, a number of threads already. You/they will need jack puck or your S will be damaged. Most of the "damage" complaint threads are specifically about America's tire doing it wrong. YMMV

You can use Americas Tire (DT), you just need to make 100% sure you speak to the manager and watch them. We made a video for our magnetic jack pucks, as short as possible so shops and owners know what to do.

1. Watch the video.
2. Order Jack Pucks, even if they have them. (we've delivered 10,000+ to Rivian owners)
3. Order the Jack Point Emblem (so tire shops pay attention).
4. Speak to manager and make sure **watch them like a hawk** so they lift in the correct location.

if you have to buy pucks to have Americas tire properly rotate, might as well have Rivian do it. Their mobile service will do it right.

If you want it done right, you need to watch over what the mechanics do. I've had good and bad experiences with almost every tire store chain around. In my experience, Discount Tire is one of the worst culprits.

When I sit in the waiting rooms of these shops and let them do "their thing" I usually get substandard even dangerous work done, but when I hang out and watch what they do, they usually get it right or I'm there to yell stop when needed. So be vigilant and keep an eye on your vehicle and you will most likely have a more positive outcome.

On another note, I put a hard copy of the Rivian towing guide in my R1T. I'm worried that I'll get some know-it-all yahoo who has "more experience" than all the tow truck drivers in the world combined, who ends up causing massive damage. I want my wife to have the hard copy to hand to the driver, if she ever gets stranded while I'm unavailable. For me I'll have the copy to hand to them, so when they screw something up they can't claim they didn't know. The Towing Guide covers things like lifting points, using the Rivian puck of course, where to attach to recover a vehicle, and all the nuances of getting a Rivian into neutral when the vehicle is parked and inoperable. You guys bring up a good point. I don’t have a spare tire. So if we get a flat and call AAA which is a service we have, they wouldn’t even be able to change the tires properly without damaging the vehicle. Has anyone called AAA with a flat and see what the outcome was? They would have to bring a flat bed if they can’t jack it up correctly with picks. I doubt AAA has the pucks.

also, when i had them rotate it a few months back, they charged me. they said its a new policy that unless i bought the tires at DT its not free. not sure if thats a new national policy or just this local store in Kirkland, WA.

My opinion is that tire rotation should be done as part of customer service, without extra charges. Problem is, the free services are usually of low quality. Therefore, sometimes you have to pay in order to get quality service.

Costco also do rotations now.

I got tire rotation done at Costa Mesa America tire for free and they did it with the pucks. The other Orange and Lake Forest locations gave me incorrect information and told me they I had to get tire rotations with balancing for $60 because america tire stopped the free tire rotation by itself.
