This is because Rivian wants you to stop the charge before hitting the cable latch button. It's "nicer" for the charging equipment that way.

But will this mean that someone can now unplug you in the middle of a charge or at a minimum stop your charging session?

Nah, depends on either the vehicle being unlocked or your key being present. My polestar 2 is the same way.

Updated vehicle access system should mean phone key is more reliable for this as well.

Give it like 3-4 days and a bunch of the vendors on this forum will probably have some pretty sweet stickers to put on the Aero covers to make them look different anyway!

(If you're one of those vendors and hadn't thought of that, you're welcome. I'll take a modest 10% please Just don't brand it with Rivian logos so you don't have to fight licensing later! ? )

Not sure why. Both are just a pilot interrupt signal I assume....which opens the contacts in whatever is attached to the vehicle. And I doubt the vehicle cares one way or the other?

Like this one (BMW/Mini), which is smart and cheaper because they can just source it off-the-shelf from a supplier instead of making proprietary hooks.

I hope those fugly wheels are for the low end trims only, and comes with aero cover or it will cost them dearly in Customer purchases.

Buckle up folks, R1 refresh is only a week away. They are only goig to make R1S first which makes sense. A Black Package R1S was spotted filming in Seattle

Changes:
- New headlights with new lighting capabilities
- New cameras and ADAS
- Black badges
- No chrome
- Silver wheel caliper
- Heat Pump
- Tri motor
- Faster charging

You've edited the post multiple times to add new photos, could you please edit the "Changes" list to remove all the completely unsubstantiated claims that are impossible to tell from exterior photos?
