Seems like it has a higher speed rating of 130MPH. Hopefully Rivian can raise the current top speed to that.
The specs are the same as the current/previous 22" tires in speed rating and wear. So, that limitation if it still exists would be on the 20" (and likely retired 21"?)

Here are more details about the tires:
https://www.pirelli.com/tires/en-us/car/press-releases/scorpion-ms-230802

Seems like they're now used on the Model Y as well according to the reviews here:

It's really too bad they didn't black out the R1S trim.

Those wheel covers don’t look great imo. Their design choices have been kind of interesting with the refresh. Wonder if they have a new leader there or something.

Function over form. Function is not sexy. Aerodynamics aren’t sexy. You want aesthetics? You’ll sacrifice function. If you don’t want maximum range then don’t buy them.
Well I didn't buy an egg for a vehicle either.

R3X aero wheels look good. You can have function AND form.

Not quite. If you put on a aero cover to make the surface of that wheel flatter, that would be more efficient. So no, that wheel is not in its most aerodynamic form, hence where aesthetics and form come in to reduce maximum function.

Agree the R3X aero wheels look great, but probably not fair to compare what's seen on a pre-production prototype to what's actually hitting the road since many things on any prototype vehicle are subject to (and, in almost all cases, will certainly) change once the vehicle hits production.

That said, you can have both form and function, but those two items almost always exist on a sliding scale where an increase in form or function results in a decrease to the other.

The aeros on the prototype R3X have more form (IMO) than what we're seeing on the R1, but that's almost certainly still at some cost to the function (in the form of an efficiency penalty - i.e., the invert on R3X looks better than the flat look on the R1, but that design has to be less aerodynamic).

You’re going to optimize getting 0.1 miles more per kwh over any aesthetic consideration?

I’d much rather lose 0.1 miles per kwh and have nicer looking aero covers

I think those rims are the equivalent of the steel rim you used to get on the lowest trim cars, back in the day  . The trim that had the hand crank windows and manual door locks when everyone already had power everything.
It's Rivians way to shame you into paying for the upgraded wheels.

Rivian needs to stop making rims with shiny silver finish. Looks kinda cheap in my opinion.

Yeah but I'll bet the efficiency of these above would probably be amazing!

Some people hate blacked out wheels. Can't please everyone, that's a fact. But people have options.

Generally agree, however, when aerodynamics mimmic organic things that are naturally aerodynamic they can be quite sexy (Formula 1, top tier prototype classes of endurance racing at LeMans and WEC...).

Give it like 3-4 days and a bunch of the vendors on this forum will probably have some pretty sweet stickers to put on the Aero covers to make them look different anyway!

(If you're one of those vendors and hadn't thought of that, you're welcome. I'll take a modest 10% please :D Just don't brand it with Rivian logos so you don't have to fight licensing later! ? )

The lightbar on the R3 also looks like the refreshed R1...has the indent
