I am going to be storing my R1S in my apartment garage, where the temps usually are around 55, for 6 weeks. But I can not keep in plugged in to a charger. I will fully charge it before storing. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to reduce the battery drain. I have left my Tesla's for up to 3 months without any difficulties. In the Tesla, I just made sure to turn off sentry mode and only connect to the car every 5 or 6 days to avoid waking up the car. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you.

Why 100%? I would top off at 85% at most.

You should be fine, especially if you put in shipping mode and leave it at 85%

How long do you think you could leave an R1S this way without a problem? I had asked my guide this question (i have not yet received my R1S) because I travel overseas sometimes for extended periods and they told me to keep it plugged in.

42 days? If it loses 2% per day like mine, it's going to be dead dead dead charging to 85%. I'd pull the 12V battery negative terminal.

Hopefully given that the car is in shipping and service mode, and in a garage, it will not loose 2%. Will find out in another 5 weeks. That being said, my Telsas certainly never loose any where near 2% per day -- more like 2% per week. I don't see why it should be different for Rivian.

It’s absurd that you even have to think about this.

Try switching off the bluetooth and wifi along with putting it into shipping mode.

I just left my R1T sitting for 7 full days @ 60% charge, in my 50°F garage, unlocked, motion cam off at home. I came back to a 2% total loss over the week. Not bad IMO, considering I did not do anything special like disable bluetooth/wifi or place into shipping mode.

I think the challenge with comparing loss, is the vampire drain inconsistency among owners. We are not all comparing the same data under the same conditions which makes it difficult what to expect. There are also some owners that are clearly having higher vampire drain than others. Even outside of all the surrounding conditions and vehicle settings that can effect this loss.

A quick update on my storage experience. I left the R1S in service and shipping mode for 40 days with SOC af 77% in an apartment garage with temps approximately 55F. When I woke up the car, the SOC was 33%. This is disappointing and unacceptable. I have left my Kia EV6 and Tesla MY and M3 for 2 months and the battery drain is usually on the order of a 2 to 4 percent a week. The bottom line is that leaving the car for a couple of months would be touch and go.

Seems in line with what most people are experiencing, about 1% a day.

I’ve left my R1T four times for periods from 30 to 50 days. Fortunately I can leave it plugged in while stored in my garage. I charge to 85% before leaving and turn everything off and I never wake up the truck. I set a schedule to charge daily to 70% and each time the first charge is on the 14th day away (notification from my charger.)

Even though not in shipping mode, I’d be confident leaving the truck not plugged in for 60 days starting at 85%. Add a couple of weeks (or buffer) by charging to 100%. Everyone’s vampire drain is different and testing is the only way to be confident in your storage arrangements.

Someone else please check my math, but I think that the rate of loss is a bit over 2%/day. That still seems real high when it is in service and transport mode, at least compared to the several other EVs I've owned.
