Can’t you get an adventure with Dual for less money? Or did they remove the dual motor option?
I could. But, I really wanted Quad. 800hp would have been a lot more fun than what the Adventure package brought :D.

Speaking of payload, an R1T with the off road package has a payload rating of 1,470lbs. I’m not sure if that even includes the spare. Add on +500lbs of battery for the Max Pack and suddenly you’re looking at a sub 1k payload unless something else changes. That’s less than a Tacoma. I don’t see Rivian releasing R1T with such a low payload, do you? I hope not.
I think that's exactly what they will do. Max pack payload rating will be decreased.

After I completed the reconfiguration of our R1T from the Explore to the Adventure Package, the price went from $70,575 to $75,275. That's a $5,000 increase for not many upgrades. We are not thrilled about it, but we still want the truck. At least now, we should get one sooner.

I think it's still a bargain when compared to a Ford Lightning.

A less luxurious 2023 Lightning Lariat with the ER battery pack would set you back $85,974. With the R1T you get way more luxury, tech, state of the art suspension, off-road prowess and acceleration. You also get a clean sheet of paper design. It's not a refreshed 2015 body set on top of a brand new BEV chassis.

With the lightning you get a lot and you get a brand that will be here in 5 years. Hopefully for all of us, Amazon will help Rivian straighten things out, otherwise we might have orphan trucks.

I'm not worried about an orphan truck. I owned a DeLorean for 30 years. I am still hopeful that Rivian is here to stay.

The truth is that I am very disappointed, when I placed the order I was very excited to be able to buy a totally electric truck and within my reach (although I stretched all my budget to make it a reality) then it was the price increase and I decided that it was no longer within my reach, Then they decide to respect the prices of the people who had placed their orders before the price increase and I said wow I'm in the game again and now it's out of my reach again. And another thing i noticed was from the screenshots that some members shared, the price varied a lot, for me the price would go up $5,500 and another thing that I want to emphasize is the RIVIAN BINDING CONTRACT TO PURCHASE as I many signed, says that if we make changes, it may no longer respect the price that was given to us when we made the order, at least that is what I understand

The WSJ article on this says "a rivian executive speaking on a podcast, said discontinuing the low-price packaging options would allow it to manufacture more vehicles quickly."

Does anybody know what Podcast this executive was on? I would like to listen to the entire thing.

I understand your disappointment. I missed out on the Launch Edition and earlier delivery because I wanted the Max Pack.
Then they delayed that and there was no way to get back in line or the Launch Edition.
I'm Adventure all the way because it's worth it for me but it feels like Max Pack and Explore holders have been yanked around for years which is really frustrating.

My original R1T order was for Explorer/max pack/manual tonneau. From this forum and other sources I saw that was a very rare configuration. It became clear months ago that shipping that configuration would be low priority and far in the future. I changed to Adventure/Standard battery/ powered tonneau and got my truck within a few weeks of changing (I live 5 miles from a service center). My range is regularly hitting 350 miles vs the 314 EPA estimate so now I’m thinking the 10k extra for max pack isn’t justified for me. I am thrilled with the truck and glad I made the configuration switch to get it sooner.
This was my exact original config, and I also made the swap to get a truck before 2025.

I also appreciate how disappointed you feel. Another way to think about this is you have a locked in option for you to buy a Rivian and a place in line that more recent reservation holders would envy. If you change your configuration to an Adventure trim now you will still have the option to cancel and the option to potentially reconsider if you can swing the cost of the Rivian you’ve configured.

That is probably there because those of us with pre-price increase reservations are not able to update our configurations with newly released/announced features without also triggering new prices. For example, if you were to select the dual motor option, you could not maintain your price lock.

I don’t think Rivian is trying to be sneaky and get Explore trim orders to get converted to post-price increase prices. I think it’s just emphasizing that they are honoring the pricing for what was available at the time you ordered and that you can’t hold onto your price-locked reservation to get a later model with new options/features that you may want. You can still reconfigure within the boundaries of what was available before 3/1 (and what remains available today).

Are they really going to risk slowing the line down for that when many of those order will likely take a large pack anyway?
I already have a large pack. Producing the Max pack is the only reason I would be buying another R1T. Granted, my used R1T is going to mean they might sell one fewer new ones, assuming I resell it, which I probably will, but before I do that, I plan on letting some EV curious friends borrow it for a week at a time to see if they can make it work for them.

Are any pre-March reservation holders swayed to cancel as a result? I unfortunately order post price increase and was looking to Adventure anyhow but now they are also upping quad motor option by another $2K.

If any pre-March holders looking to cancel please DM me.
