So I’m sure most are aware by now that towing efficiency is about half the range of normal and I concur. I’m pretty sure that if my trailer were a few feet longer and a little heavier it wouldn’t make much difference, it’s all about aero.

The epro is not very good for this as it’s kinda marketed as a off-road trailer. It’s lifted and has an aggressive tires, but with all that said, it was better than I thought. I did 2 almost 60 mile loop style tests. Temperature started at around 45 degrees and ended at about 55 with calm winds.

The first run was at 67mph indicated 65 actual, and that resulted in .97 mile/kWh and the second was at 60 indicated 58 actual, and that resulted in 1.13 mile/kWh. I did think it was going to be better than it was when slowed down. My guess is something like 125-140 miles on a full charge and about 100 miles from 80%. Luckily I live close to the beach and the mountains so most of my trips are within a few hundred miles. All in all its going to work for me just fine, and I didn’t have to unhook to charge.

Hopefully the information can be helpful to someone.

Thanks for posting this. My wife and I have been looking at small campers to use with our R1T. The E-pro is one we are considering. It seems from what you are saying that weight isn't the big issue, its more of aero with the efficiency? Interesting. Wondering if larger heavier campers would get similar efficency?

Larger/less aerodynamic would be less. Heavier would likely be very similar.
Towing our large enclosed trailer with equipment totaling about 11k pounds we get almost the same efficiency as towing the trailer empty at 4500lbs (on an ICE truck, but the point still stands).

I get about the same efficiency with a 20’ 7000lb trailer.

This little trailer was the max my wrangler could do…….might be time for a little larger trailer.

For comparison to a moderately smaller trailer...

We got about 1.25-1.35 Mi/kWh with our NuCamp T@B 320S Boondock (lifted and A/T tires) doing 55-65mph mixed interstate and county highway.

The trailer is about 2200lbs in this dry camping condition like this.

I intend to do another test when we get it out next.

I also have a little 4x8 utility trailer (400-500lbs) that pulled my efficiency down to about 1.6mi/kWh at 65mph, but that was on a short 10mi highway jaunt. It's literally so small you can't see it from inside the truck.

Ok peeps here’s some results from our trip along the Oregon coast. We started the trip at 93% with 77 miles to the RAN in Lincoln City, wind calm and temperature of 40. I don’t remember what soc was when we got to the charger, but the truck did better than I expected. Here is a pic of consumption.

From there we headed to Reedsport to meet some friends for lunch. Since we got there early we charged on a 50kW charger for about 20 minutes and spent $7.46 (that’s the total spent on charging for the trip). From there we went to The RV park at The Mill Casino in Coos Bay, which is about a half mile from the RAN. we used the RAN and the 50 amp pedestal at the RV park.

We left Coos Bay at 100% and went 124 miles at the speed limit or at most 5 over and arrived back at the Lincoln City RAN with 14%.

It’s good to know we can make it between RANs while trailering.

For the trip we averaged 1.24 m/kW.

All said the truck performed exceptionally! Towing this little trailer with my Wrangler seems like a constant struggle, but it’s effortless with the R1T.

Now if they could just improve this charge curve!

Hoping we can take delivery before our trip to OR this summer... we will be towing a 20' Airstream either with the R1T or our current Ridgeline. I'm thinking I would get slightly better efficiency with the aero of my trailer (plus in theory it will be warmer out). I'd be happy with anything around 1.5 m/kWh (though I might be dreaming!)
