Had a very successful car camping experience over the weekend in my R1S. Using the AC on full power all night + powering my refrigerator and tailgate light ended up costing just over 60 miles in range for 30 hours of camping with one overnight ( with AC on in south Florida ). Very happy with the results. Will likely be more discipline with usage to reduce energy consumption but not bad for a first at trip . The inflatable air mattress advertised to be for the R1S was very comfortable even for a big guy like me (6’1 tall). Hoping for Rivian will add additional camping mode functionality to the app ( it was inconvenient to get out of the car and go to the driver side to make configuration changes).

It would make a big difference if you put the roof glass shade on.

I've heard if you turn off the heat/ac and just leave it in fan only, that it'll be more efficient overnight. Obviously if it's actually hot outside then that's a different story.

What is the green structure? I’ll guess multi-purpose for sponge bath, changing room, and possibly a portable toilet if needed to avoid the event’s Porta potties.

Do you think it is better to attach the tarp to the R1S or to use a 4 pole set up so you can drive if needed?

What you want is a power station for your 12v refrigerator and other accessories.

Not great that the R1S uses as much energy in a day as an entire house … not environmentally friendly or good for range when camping … hope Rivian can improve the efficiency.

Sorry, did not see your question. Yes, it is a shower/ changing, toilet room. We have a portable toilet and water heater. As far as the shelter, I would say it is a question of taste, it is unlikely that I would leave just a tarp with 4 poles unattended so this worked well especially when the ground is hard, using suction cups on the truck eliminated the need for additional stakes.

I just went "camping" on a lark. The heater would not stay on beyond a few minutes. Also, anyone have suggestions for privacy for the windows? Cheers.
