My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
At Rivian's request, I took a video of the noise I'm hearing when under regen braking, and turning right. I'm now able to replicate this pretty much every time I try, which is fairly alarming. I can also feel it in the dead pedal.

Take a listen, good sleuths of the Rivian Forums, and let me know what you think. Volume up, obviously:

I don't know, but that isn't a good sound.

Could be subframe or motor mount. Is it only when you turn or also over bumps? Should be straight forward to find when they put it on a hoist.

You didn't say it would be deafening at the end of the video... To be honest, my "tock" between changes in acceleration and regen has become more pronounced since having the Gen2 cast subframe installed a couple weeks ago. It was present before, but It's more noticible now. I had brought it up with Rivian in a video in May and they put it down as normal upon inspection, but said they would keep an eye on it in case a solution to the issue is made available. That last bit was me reading between the lines.

While the play in the driveline is a bit annoying, it's comforting it's part of the 8 year warranty. I do worry, that the play will increase wear on the halfshafts.

Ha - sorry about that, I should have warned you guys about the volume. At least I didn't rickroll you. Or have Nickelback playing in the background.

Yours sounds similar, but I can't get mine to replicate under accel/decel without the wheel turned. When the weather clears a bit, I'll jack it up and mess about to see if I can feel any play on driver's side wheel where it appears to be coming from.

It sounds like my ankle the first 5 steps after getting out of bed each morning so I’m going to say something CV related.

I find this logic to be sound and therefore unassailable.

I feel like that’s pretty much what I have. A loud click on and off acceleration. Took it in a few weeks ago and the said they “added spacers” and lubed it…was quiet for about 4 days and it’s been back ever since. Have another service appt for it but I fell like its going to be another waste of time.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think there is a solution short of a drivetrain refresh.

It is not a motor mount. It has a cadence to it that correlates to the wheel speed, so it is a part that turns with the wheel. That likely means a CV joint. Because it mainly happens when you turn the wheel also points to a CV joint. And because it is so loud, that means it has a lot of energy to it, that also points to a CV joint.
I think we are to the sounds like a duck point. I would like to hear if it turns out not to be a CV joint.

Yeah after monkeying around with it yesterday and repeating the fault, it does seem like it's a CV. I'll get it up on jacks later today and report back.

Rivian did call me back last night and said it's not a safety concern, which again points more towards CV than drive unit.

Just took my R1T into the Cincy SC for what sounds exactly like your problem. On the ride to show the tech, he quickly concluded it was hub bearings.

That said - still in service. Will let you know what I hear back.

I have same noise. Comes only from rear. Starts left and then right as well. Mostly occurs with suspension in high setting.

Don't drive around in high...problem solved. This isn't a problem and it wasn't designed for it...partially why speed is limited to 45 mph and you don't get full power anyway. Drive in standard height, as intended. You don't get full power unless in Sport and lowest ride height.
