[Update: Made It Out!] Drive Motor Failure During Off-roading Excursion Through Water Crossing

I'm in this right now. Drive motor failure. Tow truck can't get to me because of boulder obstacle. Can't pull it out because I can't get it into neutral.

Does anybody know if there is a way to get into neutral (the car wash mode setting doesn't do the trick)?

Check owners manual but should be this?

Probably yes, but have you tried hard rebooting to see if it helps?

I'd you have coverage give support a call and say you need a tow and want to put vehicle intro neutral. See if they can walk you thru it.

Curious, why not use the front tow hooks instead of tying straps to the suspension components?

Tow hooks are technically optional but I don't know if Rivian has actually made a vehicle without them yet?

Yeah, my guess is the manual was written in consideration of then optional tow hooks, and never updated after tow hooks have apparently become standard equipment.

That did the trick! Any way to reset the battery connection? I thought I saw someone do this when they shipped the Rivian.

Just out of curiosity - Where did you venture out to?

Still waiting for the tow. Next challenge is going to be getting the recovery truck (F-250) over a boulder obstacle. The tow driver is a bit worried that he may not clear the obstacle with his truck. Then, the challenge will be for us to winch the R1T over the boulder obstacle. The flatbed will be waiting on the other side, but, goodness, winching my truck over the rocks has me tense.
