my R1T easily gets to 115 degrees or hotter if sitting in the sun while the outside temp is 70-75 in Seattle so it’s possible batteries are getting hot. You can’t base that on the weather report.
It happens in my nice cool garage as well. It’s not temp related unless it doesn’t know the temp and is trying to somehow initialize and self regulate.

But the key point here: it started happening with this release.

I will verify by switching off the HVAC - haven’t yet tried that. I’ll admit the noise does sound more like the battery conditioner to me. Sound clip (within confined garage) below.

Yikes. Going camping this weekend. If the update is ready before then, definitely will not be updating!

No service appointments available in Bellevue until October. Drive cautiously my fellow Seattleites. This is a problem that isn’t aging well while more and more customers continue to flood the market here.

Before update (new update hasn't pushed out to me yet)....it was 109 here today, first really hot day of the year. Attempting to stabilize battery temp. This is like a freight train and it's a bit amplified in my garage, with all garage doors open. Cover your ears.......

So same as precondition battery before dcfc. No update yet but mine did this before happy valley ran. What’s interesting is it stopped about a 100’ before the charger parking

They leave slots open for urgent service calls where vehicles are not drivable. It is for these smaller tickets that do not impact drivability that the service calls are way out.

Imagine how the power tonneau covers are going to affect things.

I got a service appointment 8 days out for TCM replacement about 6 weeks ago at Bellevue

I had my R1S make a sound similar to this (on the 2023.18.0 software). I was preconditioning to a fast charger though. As I got closer it got louder and louder. I even began to feel a vibration from it in my accelerator pedal. As I pulled up to the fast charger it stopped. Only time I’ve ever heard this, never while running regular AC. I wonder if you route to a fast charger and drive there if it will somehow stop once you arrive? Maybe worth a shot

More observations on the loud buzzing AC compressor:

* Occurs every time the HVAC is started with each drive cycle.
* Spins up within a minute (think ramp up) of starting the HVAC
* Immediately stops when turning off HVAC
* Ambient outside temperature or cabin temperature don’t seems to affect it. It’s loud no matter the conditions.
* Charging/not charging, pre-conditioning don’t seem to change the loud behavior
* If I turn on recycle it DOES gradually ramp down to previous normal (can’t hear the compressor buzzing). If I turn off recycle the loud buzzing returns.
* Onset started with release 2023.22.00
* Mobile won’t come out
* SC won’t slot me in until October

This seems to be clearly software related. Hopefully if enough customer complaints are filed they’ll ramp an update quicker. I’m usually quick to update and would have clicked the update button too, first time I’m hanging back. Thanks for the update.

Funny that I just told my wife several days ago that the steering-wheel is getting lower and lower and I won't be able to see the speed-limit and the highway-assist icons. With the new OTA updates, the steering-wheel recalibration function fixed the problem... LOVE IT!

Does the recirculation status make a difference? Mine is loud with recirc set to off. It also likes to change the setting on its own for whatever reason, so I've had to go back in and manually turn it on a few times.

Recirculation seems more a suggestion that gets overridden with no clear guidance on why.

If I toggle off AC with the HVAC still on, the loud AC compressor noise instantly stops. Even after that if I toggle AC back on (while staying in manual mode) the loud AC compressor noise doesn’t instantly return, but does occasionally spin up but not with the same intensity.
