Feel sorry for the seller, but seems like there’s gotta be a demand problem for R1S? This would be something like 100k if ordered today?

I guess that’s the only questionable part of the sale, assuming the seller just had it sit in a garage for whatever reason. Nevertheless I’ve not seen any R1S sold for under 83k with such low mileage

If you have a reservation for an LE or if you have been given access to the R1 Shop where LE's occasionally appear, then yes you can buy one for less than that. LE base price is $75k for a R1S.

EDIT: That's also a 2022 VIN BTW ... build date is at least a year ago.

Keep in mind, the seller is getting $78K, but the buyer is likely paying between $85K-$90K after paying the C&B fee and sales tax. If you qualify for EV tax breaks, you get an additional $3.5K in tax breaks to buy new and not used. Once you factor in those costs, a 'new' car direct from Rivian looks more attractive.

You only get 7500 if the sales price is under 80k and that’s going away partially in 2024 I thought? With C&B fee of something like 5%, it’s still 82k ish and you’d have to pay sales tax anyways

There are people grandfathered into the $7,500 credit if they signed the purchase order from Rivian offered at the end of 2022.

My only point was the car is much more expensive then the price it sells for on C&B and that introduces some buyers preferring to purchase direct vs used.

You found 1 example of an LE for this cheap, and it has a major red flag. Looks like a “too good to be true” type of situation could be the deal here.

looks like an early VIN. Seller still didn't lose money. He got state and federal incentives most likely. Add 4.5% to that price.

Probably bought, found issues, first available service was 5 months out…then waited 6 months for body shop to fix some paint issue or something. Boom…a year old and low mileage ?. Kidding, kidding.
