Just a thought, but do you know when these photos were taken? I mean, if they were taken 2-3 months ago, things would be different now.
They were posted on Facebook shortly before I posted them here and the context of the comments were fairly clear that they were taken that day.

So am I to understand that what this thread is suggesting is that if Rivian is still installing robots, then they are not ready for initial production of the R1 twins? Sure, that could be one explanation. It's also entirely likely that they will continue to require more robots as they ramp up production over time. They're not going to initially build out the factory to support production volumes planned for a year or 2 down the road making large up-front capital expenditures only to have the equipment sitting idle for a number of years. Just doesn't make sense. We don't know the story behind these pictures and where these robots fit into Rivian's factory build out plans but there is no reason to assume these robots have any bearing whatsoever on initial R1 deliveries. R1 deliveries may or may not experience additional delays and that may or may not have anything to do with timing of the installation of these robots or any other equipment. Let's all just relax and enjoy the pictures.

The fact that this thread is implying that production cannot possibly begin while robot installation is still occurring is laughable. You guys have no idea how manufacturing works.

They’ll be continuing to expand the factory for YEARS following initial deliveries!

Not really going to engage in posting battles w/ people, other than to say not everything has hidden meanings that need to be read into.

"Still getting ready," means they're still getting ready. Were that untrue, deliveries would already be occurring.

Thanks for the reply. That's disappointing however.

Would appear that some sizable number of people working at the plant in Normal are temps, living out of hotels. Here's a pic of a shuttle (the driver posted to facebook).

Could very well be the tour team(s) getting trained and up to speed since they are starting events in August.

Sure looks to me like they’re still installing robots on the line…. Incidentally the robots are painted in the same blue as the vehicles

Everyone else missed it, but "RPV" is the model name of the Amazon Vans. We already know that it's a different line than the R1T is being built on. The fact that they are now focusing on this other line says to me that they are really really close with the R1T line now.

"Rivian Prime Van"? makes sense given the other model names.

That's helpful to know, as more of these pictures come out to build some sort of spatial understanding of the lines with the coding on the roof pillars.

Definitely construction workers in that group. They are known as Travelers in my trade. When there is a really big construction project in an area, too big for the local to man, then people from other locals come to help out. That's what is happening at Intel's Ronler Acres site in Oregon. They are building a very large, complicated concrete and steel box filled with all the utilities needed to make it into a fab. Then I'll work on installing the "tools" to make the chips on the wafers. That takes a lot of workers because Intel wants the project done NOW.

The pictures are just that... pictures, nothing more. Could have been taken last week or six months ago. Could have been on the first production line, or the second, or the van line. They could have been taken on a sub-component production line that won't run until they ramp up capacity next year. The RPV tag is the only possible clue at all.
