I'm just speculating. I could absolutely be wrong. And I hope I am, because I agree with you completely-this widget is not useful for daily driver. However, I think Rivian's cherished Rebelle Rally is the reason - a race that relies on manual navigation. They are even using this display in the photos...I thought it was going to be an altimeter function. My Garmin GPS has this feature. I don't quite understand why vertical feet traveled would be of interest and under what circumstances. Is this something you would set at the bottom of a hill and measure the vertical distance to the top? Is this something that off roaders need to know?

Didn’t realize they released official press releases for those features. At least half of them were said to be coming by Rivian reps.
didn't realize you couldn't just have a constructive conversation without being a wise-assDidn’t realize they released official press releases for those features.
So this is new standard of all things Rivian. If you didn't see it in an official press release....it didn't happen. Nice....Didn’t realize they released official press releases for those features.
Lots of your things are things that have been publicly stated are in their roadmap. But they generally haven't given a timeline for public release of the features. The towing stuff has been "done" for a while but they probably needed to extend testing on it for some reason. I imagine a lot of the other features are the same deal, but I don't have any knowledge of those ones.didn't realize you couldn't just have a constructive conversation without being a wise-ass
Depends. Would you consider public statements and software demos by the CEO and the VP of Software Development "official press releases"?Didn’t realize they released official press releases for those features.
This last statement made me laugh. I once had a 1993 Ford Thunderbird that could drive hands free "for a few seconds"... that car was a blast. I still like my R1T better.I agree with this to a certain extent. While Driver+ is nowhere near where it needs to be to be competent, it continually takes (baby) steps in that direction. And technically, HWA is hands free for a few seconds... ?
This is not a press release, but I would suggest you could consider it official considering the source. And although not a press release, show me a single vehicle manufacturer laying out their plan so transparently in any communication forum.Didn’t realize they released official press releases for those features.
I picked up my R1S last Saturday and it came with a compact spare.I hope you're right and that your delivery rep is better informed than mine. When I picked up my R1S she said that the compact spare would be available "next week"...
Was it a stand-alone option or did your R1S come with the All Terrain package? (All Terrain package for R1S bundles the 20” AT wheels, reinforced underbody shield, and compact spare)I picked up my R1S last Saturday and it came with a compact spare.
Just FYI.
it was a stand alone option even though I do have all terrain package with underbody shield and 20" AT wheels. Was it a stand-alone option or did your R1S come with the All Terrain package? (All Terrain package for R1S bundles the 20” AT wheels, reinforced underbody shield, and compact spare)
