HAHAHAHAHAHAH my Rivian's UX was better than that of my Audi's that's only a year older when I took delivery September of 22 and it's just gotten better since.
ok, cool. I was talking about the myriad of missing features, but whatever.
You can both be right. Our Rivians are missing some features, like resume for cruise control. As a new manufacturer, they weren’t pulling parts or recycling code from past vehicles. Being able to push OTA updates allowed them to get the products out sooner because they could continue development and provide improvements after customers receive their R1.

It may be a little annoying to be missing some features, but Rivian has demonstrated that they are capable of improving our vehicles roughly every 4 weeks. The improvements that come out may not be a priority or considered an improvement by all of us. However, up until this vehicle, my expectation of a new car has always been that it’s only going to get worse after purchase as items wear. Seeing improvements roll out, even if they aren’t of value to me, gives me hope that Rivian is on the right track.

If Rivian can recycle or adapt their code for the R2 line, I think future R2 owners are going to have a much better experience from the start because of the work done on our R1 vehicles.

It sounds like trip data will be in the new gauge view. Not sure if it will persist from drive-to-drive until reset (like a traditional trip meter) or if It will only display data from the current drive.
Additional current drive trip info that is automatically reset would be great.

What "myriad of missing features" are you referring to exactly? If you're going to say CarPlay save the response because you were told no on that in no uncertain terms. Rivian will never get that, so best off not buying one if that's a dealbreaker for you. Other than that there aren't any significant missing features that were promised on the truck's inception that it does not have now.
“Does Rivian have a driver assistance system?
Yes, all vehicles come standard with Driver+, delivering true hands-free driving”

The above is still on the Rivian website. Driver+ has nowhere near the capabilities they’ve advertised. Hands free ADAS is a significant missing feature that’s hasn’t had any meaningful improvements since launch. Rearranging the UI is fine but I’d prefer to have all the features that were advertised.

I am anxious to see how the elevation feature works. Where we operate Opal most of the time, the elevation varies from nine to thirty feet above see level.

Brian
I do not think it is a reading of elevation above sea level. I think it simply measures vertical feet traveled, which is why there is a reset button and it reads a high and a low.

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't GPS altitude.

I agree with this to a certain extent. While Driver+ is nowhere near where it needs to be to be competent, it continually takes (baby) steps in that direction. And technically, HWA is hands free for a few seconds... ?

I thought it was going to be an altimeter function. My Garmin GPS has this feature. I don't quite understand why vertical feet traveled would be of interest and under what circumstances. Is this something you would set at the bottom of a hill and measure the vertical distance to the top? Is this something that off roaders need to know?

I have a P6 Pro and my PaaK doesn't work at all. Like the truck doesn't even respond to the phone being there for several minutes. I just bring my fob with me everywhere.

Can't wait for them to give us NFC access with third party devices.
I have no issues with my P6Pro at all but let's see what P8Pro will do next week.

Ugh, I'm tired of repeating myself (as I've been posting about this a bit too much lately, and I've been against CarPlay/AA for forever)...but of the things Rivian has either promised or every other vehicle at its price-point has:

- Quad-zone climate control
- Off-road mapping (I was very excited when RJ said to a group that Rivians would automatically map trails the owners drove on, and those trail maps would be shared through their mapping system to all Rivians. Obv hasn't happened)
- Usable traffic re-routing and/or a decent map/nav system
- Video streaming of any sort
- Apple Music and/or Google music (or whatever the hell app they list that under now)
- Text message support
- HUD (obv not a software implementation that can address that)
- Blind spot camera when blinker is on
- Lane change with Driver+
- Auto-park
- Clock and temp where the driver can actually see them
- Geolocation for things like mirror folding and suspension height adjustment
- USB media player
- Satellite radio (not even something I'd use, but I know lots of people like it)
- Ability to view the camera feed that looks over the bed
- Ability to set which wheels are on the truck without needing a service center visit

This is all just off the top of my head. I'm sure I could double the list if I went through threads in here and Reddit to see everything that's been said is coming or that lots of people have asked for
Those aren’t missing features.
