What are everyone’s R2 accessory predictions or hopes? Do you think we will get any major updates to existing accessories like the crossbars?

Personally I’d love to see a Westfalia-style pop top and full-size spare tire carrier but definitely wouldn’t bet on it! Maybe more packages like the All-Terrain upgrade?

So far the only accessory Rivian has shown with the R2 are the crossbars in one of the teasers… Just curious to hear what you all think ahead of the launch!

Expect to see all the stuff that is already out for the R1S. Economy of scale is king in the race to profitability. Higher volume in batch orders to suppliers means lower per unit cost and greater profit margins at current Gear Shop prices.

"Rear accessory port" and tool-less bike mount sounds promising.

Please, a spare tire. We have had two friends/family get stranded in their EV due to no spare tire and tire damage that the repair kit could not handle. It meant extensive delay and a flatbed tow. Then more wait time to get the right tire. We live in the mountains with sometimes sketchy cell service. No ability to include a spare tire, even as an option, is a problem for us. Yes, they sell after market spare tires, but they take up the entire rear cargo area if there are no provisions made to place a spare under the rear load floor.

I see you have an R1S on order.

The OEM compact spare has always been an option for the R1S. It's not ideal compared to a full size spare, but it's functional enough to get you back on the road and to a service center, as advertised.

And of course, a full size spare as an OEM option for the R1T, under the bed.

I have zero doubts that the same compact spare option will exist for the R2S, and be stowed in the rear subfloor the same way as the R1S. I wouldn't worry.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Metal roof.

Traditional suspension design.

Full-size spare option.

Although it doesn’t matter because we’re planning on putting a deposit regardless of the specs.

I guess I need to update my profile! We cancelled our R1S order last year when Rivian could not provide certainty on availability of the spare tire. We originally ordered the spare tire as an "option" to the R1S, but it got moved by Rivian to the Gear Store, and then was not available for some time. We decided to wait for the R2, partly because of the lack of spare tire for the R1S, and partly because the R1S was just too fancy on the interior for our use. We wanted the R1S to be a little more utilitarian on the interior so we can throw our muddy dog, or snowy skis or snowshoes in without worry.
