True but do we know if there will be changes? No right? So it’s safe to assume at some point there will be changes and hopefully improved QC especially since they’ve been forcing vehicles out the assembly with often times low delivery standards (from what I’ve seen).
Yeah, there are probably dozens (hundreds?) of small incremental changes added throughout the year. There will probably be larger changes (although still not major) implemented during the time the lines are shut down, in 2024.
Are those changes, whatever they may be, enough to make you want to wait? If so, you might want to wait another year for the NACS port. And then maybe another year for some other incremental change on the horizon. And then a couple more years to see if they'll be incorporating new battery technology.

I’m picking up my R1S this week and I read that they are going with newer more efficient batteries soon? Is that 2024? My vehicle is already outdated?
Surely you've shopped for computers, smartphones and other electronics? and any other car? It's the same. You just can't think like this. If you just can't help it, don't buy. If you're ready and need it (not want, there is a difference), make the decision and move forward (don't look back). There will always be newer and better. That's a fact*.

Rivian changes the model year designation for vehicles when the production date is January 1 or later.
Close, but not 100% accurate.

As indicated by my door sticker, my R1T was built in Dec 2022, but the VIN has a "P" in the year placeholder which indicates it's a 2023 model year Rivian, and the Title says 2023 Rivian R1T.

Right now the Rivian's rolling out of the factory are 2024 VIN's.

Honestly I don’t mind waiting at all I had 2 failed deliveries so I just want them to get their shit together tbh lol

Faster charging(800v after chargers are built), not needing an NCAS adapter and more frequent charging to 100% is what you can expect in next few years. Each comes with downsides. 800v has a penalty with non-800v chargers. If there matter to you wait few years. We will almost certainly have something else coming at the time though

On the contrary. The longer you wait, the more costs they cut by removing standard equipment (e.g. 12v outlet) as they attempt to make a profit instead of losing $32k+ per vehicle.

I doubt if we will ever see another quad pack offered by any other manufacturer since they are not as profitable as single, dual, or tri motors.

I stand corrected. It was my understanding (or misunderstanding), last year, that the "model year" matched the build date. But I hadn't read anything definitive from Rivian on that.

It's' like buying a new computer or a smart-phone, it is not the latest/current in less than a year. And the newer models more likely will cost more too.
