I would have noticed the noises. In fact I noticed them the first time I drove it. I accept tire noise. But noise actually generated by movement in the suspension(or subframe, cv joints, etc...) isn't normal, regardless of ICE or BEV. I also hope they figure it out (I suspect they have figured it out and implemented the change already in production), but if they ever push the solution out to all of us early adopters, not so sure. Especially if it is deemed NVH and not a driveability/safety issue.

Sound to me like manufacturer of the half shafts need tighter tolerances...makes sense that greasing it quiets it down as instead of metal to metal, its hitting to grease first, making, like some have said, the tock, 80% quieter....but it comes back.

I'm now 8 week into my R1T ownership and I'll add that I have experienced the 'tocking' since day one. It's fairly minor and insignificant and I could otherwise live with it...

But then I experienced the clicking and that was unnerving. It has now happened twice under very specific circumstances -- when I lower the air suspension.

I generally drive in 'All Purpose' and set the height to 'Auto', but going into some parking structures recently I've put the R1T into 'low' (not lowest). After parking the truck and coming back -- consistent clicking under 10mph on both acceleration and regen braking.

And when I get back to the 'mid' height or set the suspension back to Auto I get the tocking again.

Mine is nice and quiet now....
"Concern:- Customer states since the end of July 2022 there is a low speed clunking sound when steppingon the accelerator, sounds as if something is loose. Customer believes it is something dealingwith rear motors as noise isn't present when vehicle is in conserve mode.Cause:- clearance between splines on axle and hub. noise minimized.Correction/Remedy:- Front Halfshafts Other Labor (1 Hour)- Rear Halfshafts General Diagnostic- Rear Halfshafts Other Labor (1 Hour)Labor"

Just updated my vote from "Not experiencing, would contact service" to "I have it, would contact service"

My first ~100mi were free of tock/click/clunks, but we definitely have it reproducibly now.

I had a small list of non-critical service items, but this addition pushed us over the edge to contacting service.

I just got that (or maybe just started noticing it as I wasn’t often driving with music off and windows down very often in TX summer heat). Mine is not as bad as in the video, but definitely there.
I will submit ticket as I also have a minor other issue on a ticket submitted a month ago (with no Initial response yet). On a side note and based on two separate ticket experiences now, Rivian should change the claimed response time on service tickets from 1-2 business days to 1-2 business months (and even then, only if you call to follow up) or just say “SOON”.

Oh helllll no! Here I was annoyed that at every stoplight/stop sign it creaks when I start with about 6-8 clicks, but this sounds like a rubbing grinding and gives me memories of bad wheel bearings in an old f150 I had lol. That would be at the service center immediately for me. Now I’m wondering if I’m not over-reacting about my clicks/creaks lol!

Yup, I just had this exact noise develop after about 2500 miles on the clock. Was previously quiet. VIN in the 78XX range.
Just checked, I'm at 2498 miles haha
