I am in PA with the expired temp. I have been on the phone today with service, my guide, AAA, and PennDOT. Even though the paperwork was supposedly sent on the 10th then the 22nd, and it is to be back to me by the 8th, there seems to be no record of it in the state system. Somewhere there is a disconnect.

The folks that had Rivian send the paperwork to self register... did you have loans or were they paid off? I'm concerned that this only applies if you don't have a lien since Rivian is obligated to file the paperwork with the lien info.

When I took delivery I was told that they couldn't transfer vanity plate because I was going from a car to a truck. I've gone car > truck > car > truck > car before and never had an issue. I wondered if this was due to the Rivian being a "heavy truck" in Florida. I spoke to the local tax collector office and they said I should indeed be able to transfer the tag. My guide indicated they couldn't but after a little pushing, they were able to "amend the paperwork" to do the transfer instead of registration. Rivian had no issues transferring my friends for his small/light truck. Though like him they have to file the paperwork and who knows how long that's going to take. I hope I'm not in this debacle waiting for registration to get done.

Randomly I was looking at reviews for Vroom and they have a bunch of complaints about title and registration issues. I wonder if they're using the same company.

Can't speak on the specifics of FL, but you should be able to do this regardless of the financing situation. You will need the lienholder information though when you go to your DMV

Mine should have been easy since I paid outright for it.

My truck is financed and it didn’t create any issues for me in Georgia. The MCO had the lien holder’s information completed by Rivian already. There were a couple of places I had to sign and complete (they had “sign here”post-its) as well.

I registered in FL and the MCO had bank information. The FL paperwork also required lienholder information and address to forward title.

I picked up my Rivian on June 9th and got my plates in the mail today. So if you are in California hopefully your experience will be the same. It’s been very smooth.

Received a FedEx package today from Reg USA in East Greenbush, NY. Inside was my MI registration showing my plate transfer and the title application. If I remember correctly, MI will actually mail the title to me in a few days. At least I can now put on my custom plate and feel like I'm legit! Took delivery on May 9 so almost two months to the day.

Seems sort of stupid that someone locally had to go to the MI SOS office, do all the work, get the documents, send them to NY where they then put them in a plastic bag and overnighted them to me. Talk about convoluted!!!

Just got off the phone with the DMV myself. Was inquiring about my plates, my registration shows up as active in the state DMV2U portal.

Turns out that REGUSA requested a one time address to mail the plates to them in NY rather than coming directly to me. They were mailed 6/23, not sure what the utility is mailing them to NY and then back to OR.

Got paperwork from Rivian overnighted... new paperwork shows paid in full but no taxes paid. DMZ wants to charge tax. Original paperwork shows taxes paid. Not super interested in paying an extra $5100 in taxes...

When you re-sign the agreement you can have them take off the taxes. The problem is if you wanted to roll that into your financing (or already had).

If that doesn't work then you'll need Rivian to send re-send you paperwork that showed you already paid taxes.

Something seems goofy for WA owners because multiple forums and Facebook groups have brought this same issue up. I'm concerned for myself now too :(

This is all definitely a Rivian issue. I am going through the purchase process right now and I had to correct some errors they were going to make. If you want to see the process for registration in your state, Tesla has it figured out at the link below. Rivian is not following the proper procedures in each state, which is causing these issues for everybody.

Ended up costing my almost $6700 to get plates from the local DMV. :/

Rivian says they'll reimburse me for the taxes.
