Atlanta is covering more regions, so basically their mobile techs are so busy. They use more third party people for safety recalls.

That is really interesting. ATLANTA said they cannot do this through their mobile service.
Drew out of Memphis is the Man! He also did a mobile repair on the compressor hose that was not clamped on the assembly line and blew loose last year a month or so after I took delivery.

Yeah I live in Spring Branch. I was hoping I could use the SC in San Antonio for this but you are right, it doesn’t come up. I have other issues too so I need to take it to a SC. Austin SC for me is an 1:20 trip. San Antonio is only about 30 or 40 minutes at the most. The Rivain AI bot sucks.
There’s a third party shop in San Marcos (Auto Craft Bodywerks)

I had customer service call me. They scheduled the appointment in SA over the phone. They actually got me in for tomorrow. I need to go to the SC because I also have half shafts that need replaced.

Just had this done last week from Dallas SC. They called a month ago for voluntarily replacement of the 12V and this. Took about 2 hours for both to be done. My Quad R1s showed no sign of 12V degradation or HVAC issue prior to this service

Customer Service called me on Monday this week and made the appointment at the San Antonio SC for Wednesday morning this week. I got a R1S loaner and my R1S was done by 4pm Wednesday. That was the drain plug and they fixed my front axle clunks also. Kuddos to Rivian SA SC!!!!! I gave them all 5 stars on the survey.

Anyone have EV Sportline Running boards & SC declined to replace HVAC Plug as they WILL remove the running boards, but charge $250 to put them back on. Crazy??

No. But they get in the way of the hvac work. They can’t do it without removing them. So, if you don’t remove them, the fact that they will do it for $250 is a good deal.

Do Gen 1 cars also dump the HVAC water into the underbody shield that's in front of the battery pack? On my Gen 2, the HVAC water seems to be dumped into there where it accumulates like a little shallow reservoir. It only dumps out if I'm on an incline.

As the shield is a piece of steel, this seems like a really bad design decision to purposely turn it into a little pool. Seems like they should have added some little drain holes around where the HVAC water drops out, but the shield has none.

Rivian customer support has said this is normal. I have never had my car serviced (thank god), so never had a real tech look at what I'm seeing.

I have the EVBase running boards and Rivian Atlanta was able to service the truck for the recall no problems.

I had a similar issue and ended up checking https://www.hvacschools411.com/ just to get a better understanding of how the drain system works and why the plug design matters. It’s crazy how a small part like that can cause such a mess. I went with a basic grommet style and added a small slit—no more leaks or puddles so far.
