Mucho sucko! Would really like to have a method for improving the cams. One of the few things that gets me every time I switch between my Tesla and the R1T is the camera clarity/view. Seems silly for something I never had before on decades of cars but totally miss every time I drive one without them.

Thanks Riviot for doing the heavy lifting here!

I wish Rivian would someday offer a way to at least upgrade a couple cameras. Im sure plenty of us Gen1 owners would pay for it.
They connect, I think it just doesn't read it. Or it does, but not programmed...? One time, it flashed them all for a second like it was trying to, then cut out. I think if you got a different processor/board/AXM(?) it would work. You may need some adapters here and there for different brackets.

So maybe it's just me or is the Gen 1 truck bed camera higher resolution than all the others? Maybe find a truck bed camera and see if that works in the front/rear?

Nope, just not a fisheye lens.

Really? Why does the resolution get so much worse? I used to work for Olympus imaging and fisheye lenses dont reduce resolution in the center, just creates distortion and other artifacting on the edges. The center should be just as clear but it to my eye its not even close. Unless Rivian software is making it a lower resolution across the entire view.

The camera view you see is just a portion of the full field of view. For example, the same camera in the mirror shows both the front and rear tire views. When looking at each view separately, it’s only part of the overall image, enlarged to a bigger size and, as a result, has lower perceived resolution. The camera itself isn’t the problem.

@Riviot Made an account here just to thank you for the outstanding work on this.

Long story short, I have a Rigd Ultraswing on my R1T and did not want to remove my rear bumper to relocate the camera. I bought (what was listed as a Gen 1) camera off eBay, plugged it in and it did not work. After freaking out for a week, I found your thread, matched the part number to what you had, bought another camera and installed it. IT WORKED. I figured eBay sent me a Gen 2 R1S camera.

Why did you do this to me? Now I need to buy another camera and see if I can somehow rig it to run 35ft to the back of my trailer when it’s in tow. It’s a feature I miss having that I had on my Lightning.
