Hey guys, I took delivery of my R1T 3 day ago, and it's fantastic. Reading the forums I was a little concerned about what issues I could face in the pre delivery inspection, and the drive home. But, knock on wood, the truck is really great. I don't see any paint issues, most panel gaps are uniform and lined up (4/23 build). The biggest issue, if you can call it that, is that when my tailgate is down one cable is taught, and the other has a decent amount of slack. I read here its a fairly common thing and I'll address it later.

Seeing how I feel "lucky" that this was not a vehicle with obvious post factory adjustments, poor panel gaps, etc, there are a few interior things that I am noticing, but are small. I've attached a picture, mainly it looks like when the dash pad was installed, it got slightly damaged. There are some small chunks taken out of the vinyl. It's pretty small, but my fear is that it may not wear well with temperature expansion/contraction. Also, now that I saw it, I always see it. Same for the center console top. There is a small chunk of the vinyl material on a corner that is rubbed off/scraped off.

I guess this is maybe a silly question, but what would you do? Live with it as a tiny imperfection, or address it? It's a pretty expensive vehicle, so that makes me want it it taken care of. But, it the grand scheme it's pretty minute.

At least not having Siruis XM keeps me occupied switching from Spotify to Tune in to bluetooth.... and not staring at the dash pad.

Well, unless you know a magician that can fix upholstery, they would have to replace the entire dash to have that fixed I imagine since it is all one unit from what I have seen.

The top piece is separate from the rest of the dash. Munro shows it removed in one of their videos.

I'd report it. IDK that I would demand it be fixed, but I would explain that if it spreads I expect you guys to cover it and make it right as I have documented the issue now. Then put the ball in their court. If they feel that it could spread and be made worse they will probably replace it now. If they say that if you can live with what it is now that's all it will ever be then I would personally leave it.

Be careful in what you ask for... I brought my Bolt in to our local Chevy dealer for a cosmetic issue like this- my dashboard was actually about 3/8" lower on one side than the other side when referencing the windshield black trim. They agreed it was not level and to repair it under warranty and gave me al loaner ICE for the 4 days it took to "repair" it. When I got to the dealership to pick it up.. the height difference between the driver side and passenger side was actually worse than it was before the "repair" attempt that took 4 days ...... and to top it off... they broke the tabs on the A-Pillar cover so that needed to be ordered and installed during a followup visit which meant another early drop-off and loaner vehicle after the second attempt to re-level the dash.
So, all-in-all.. three visits to re-level the dash- which they never did as I gave up on it after the second 4 day stay in the shop in an attempt to level the dash- because it seems they were unable to grasp the concept of height differences between two points of reference.

lesson learned... yes, it can get returned to you in worse condition then when you dropped it off. So unless it's something you can not live with, be careful requesting repairs.

i do agree with ny_rob though there is always the risk of the vehicle coming back worse than when you got it someplace else. the workers in the factory build vehicles all day so they have a lot more experience and know-how to assemble it. the workers in the SC probably know a lot less and could mess up something else. risk vs reward. if it were me, i would open a ticket to have that fixed.

I keep a list of things that are likely covered under warranty and save them up for when I have the time to make it down to the SC.

So my advise is, be as picky as you can, but don't stress about getting it resolved immediately.

We had a issue with loose mirror that turned into a door replacement with PNW Mazda dealer. I have a creek from the aero shutter, and I do not want them to pull the bumper.

As others said, create a ticket with image attached first. You can think about resolution.

Thanks all, I submitted a ticket through the app with a pic. At minimum just to document it.

Yup - and if you choose to wait, you can always bundle it in with another service should one pop up (recall, etc).

I had a couple of nitpicky items I let go until I could lump them in with other more troublesome items. Minimize downtime, and tasked pressure off their service backlog.
