After waiting nearly 2 1/2 years I finally got asked to confirm my configuration (order placed May 2021) and was then invited to begin the purchase process for my R1T, Performance DM Max Pack (VIN 28xxx). My question for those who have gone before me is did you sign the EDR consent (Event Data Recorder)? It looks like it's optional and I'm not sure what the benefit is of signing it so wondering what others have done? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

No I didn't because I had my tin foil hat on and I don't want Rivian monetizing my telemetry data. Not saying they won't anyways, but hopefully not giving consent is enough.

Yep. Letting them log data will help me when I have a problem (hopefully the vehicle will report what happened) and helps product development down the line.

I am not convinced that _not_ signing it would have any affect on my privacy in today's connected world... seeing as I freely consent to carry a phone on my person that tracks my every move lol.

Wow, are you a little grumpy today or always rude to people. You should apologize.

I doubt that OP really cares, but maybe you should.

What are you talking about? My response wasn't at all rude.

I signed it. I feel like that ship has sailed long ago and I know what I am getting into buying a rolling connected device. If it helps Rivian improve our vehicles then it’s a worthwhile trade IMHO.

If I was that worried I would go buy an analog 1970s V8 truck So “the man” couldn’t track me.

I didn’t sign. In practice I grant the least data possible in scenarios like this.

Sure, it’s a connected vehicle and Rivian already has plenty of data about me. But I’ll opt out of all data collection I can.

I also opted out of binding arbitration, twice (once after reservation, once after purchase)

Thanks for all the input so far - much appreciated. This forum has been super helpful. Seems like some did, some didn't and it's more of a personal preference.

Signed. There's nothing my truck could know that several other devices don't already. Can't imagine how someone could find any of it useful, anyway.

Signed it. If it helps Rivian get better over time, that’s aligned with my interests. I trust Rivian enough with my data

Nope, never willingly give away your data for free. Doesn’t mean they don’t have it anyway, but don’t willingly hand it over.
Same. I didn’t sign it. I’m sure they already have plenty of data on me anyways.
