So what’s the latest on how to find an order number if you have a recently placed order? I placed my order earlier this week.
Sign into your account, go to your config. And it should be in the url.
rivian.com/account/vehicle/order/**1234**/config
**1234** is your 'number'.

Would be great if a mod or the OP could edit the original post to update the current state so people don’t spend their time trying to figure out their order number when it’s not possible for new orders.

Like I mentioned previously, "Before you jump through the hoops outlined yesterday, Babbuino’s response in entry 317 may explain what you’re looking at. Your order date may play a role as to whether the info will be helpful in determining your actual place in line."

As Babbuino said, ".....they changed it after Aug 2020. People who preordered after August 4 will get a number around a million."

Best of luck!

Newer pre-orders have a random, large number there. Not relevant to order number.
That may be true, but it is still a 'number' that represents your pre-order. So, there. :)
Still funny that people are putting so much stock into a 'number' like it is the only thing that matters. Even after Rivian came out once again and said it is only a small piece of how they are figuring out how to fulfill orders.

Not sure why you find it funny. Not everyone has been interested in Rivian for a year or longer. Some, like me, are new to Rivian and are excited about their recently placed order. When you come to this forum for information and community around your upcoming car this thread is one of two that are sticky. Of course people are going to think the order number must be important. And how is someone who is new to Rivian supposed to know what they’ve has said in the past about order numbers?

Anyway, good to know that order numbers are pointless.

It's a good community here, and there's a lot of people that have accumulated (way too much) knowledge over a long period of time.

Don't ever sweat asking questions, you'll almost always find someone to give you a good answer (if there is one).

And glad to see yet another Texan. There's a pretty healthy contingent of us here that just keeps growing!

"Healthy".... speak for yourself..... :p
He did say “healthy” and “keeps growing.” I meet one out of those two.
Joking aside, my grandmother used to use "healthy" to describe anything other than skinny. She would also throw an "extra" in front of it from time to time too.
