Either way, I guess I wouldn’t have expected such a large drop with the heat on low setting and the temp not too very cold. In a few weeks it will be 20 degrees cooler.

so we should expect cold temp ranges of 190-200 miles? Yikes.
That’s about what I am expecting based on my prior EV’s.

We had many threads on the Mach E forum every winter about new owners worrying that Ford somehow put the wrong battery in their vehicles since efficiency dropped so much. Was a nice tradition.

Somehow my battery capacity gets inflated when I tow.

Cold weather + short drive = Terrible efficiency

Heating cabin, seats, steering wheel etc. have a nominal impact on my efficiency. I keep myself nice and comphy.

You got one of those range extender hitches? Heard Tesla is gonna make them for the Cybertruck.

It’s simple really. Your Rivian hates the Eagles.

I’ve seen similar lately too. It’s not just you. I can’t find a consistent pattern (weather, battery temp, heat/ac use, speed, etc.). Sometimes when they’re all theoretically favorable I still get crap efficiency. Other times it’s the inverse. I solved it by showing the map instead of the efficiency screen. Now I don’t worry.

I love all these posts. Makes me glad that I enjoy the cold and the only time I run the heat is to defog the windshield. I always get asked, doesn't your efficiency suck in the winter? Nope, maybe a 5-10% hit max.

I wish they'd come up with a way to heat the windshield without the forced air.
I am opposite....I run my heated wheel constant, seats high constant, and crank heat. Not a fan of cold, unless skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, etc......and I have spent my whole life in it. My tolerance has reduced with age....But I also don't care what my vehicle consumption is. Whatever it is is alot less than a Raptor R or TRX.

I do something similar, where I will set the max current draw to something that gets me close to my target % at my planned time of departure. Usually for when I need 100% at time of departure, but no harm in doing it to keep current draw down, either.
I've also been toying with limiting current to save on the I^2 losses---my home ChargePoint cable is noticeably hotter after a 48A charge than a 32A. But then there are the time-based losses due to vehicle systems active throughout any charging event, and I'm not sure I'm really saving anything by charging slower and longer!

I'm still laughing at the interior temp being set to 75. Do you always just drive around in a tank top and flip flops, time of year be damned?

I am more of a sweatshirt and shorts with a pair of athletic shoes kinda person. I stop flip flops and tank tops at about 50 degF.

This is not how it works. I have work truck. So I drive my R1T on Saturday. Sitting in driveway for week in cold and heat and all. Then I drive on weekend for like 50-70 miles. Always get worse mileage. Went on couple of 400 mile plus trips. Mileage is better. I won't recommend mileage for short trips. Sometimes slow speed driving is worst too.

I miss my Land Rover Disco... 23 years old and still has the original heated windshield with the filaments, and only a single half-inch crack that never spread! F U Fuyao!

When I jumped in my cold (Boston cold) R1S that was outside overnight, I saw the efficiency drop but once the vehicle warmed up and the cabin temp was comfy it recovered and was fine. Didn't impact our 250 mile drive home at all.
