This is not the cause for most people. My truck has been to the SC multiple times for the CV shaft clunk and also had a mobile tech visit and I personally watched them remove the center caps and check the torque. They're "there" on my truck, and I still have the clunk.
Mine are definitely there too...and I have the clunk.

Love my Rivian. Best vehicle ever. Love Rivian. Not shitting on Rivian. All brand and manufacturers have issues.

Same here. This is absolutely the only thing I don't like about the truck... I have a few rattles, etc, sure...those can be sniffed out and fixed...but the clunk, etc, is soo annoying and I KNOW it has to be fixable so I'd hate to get rid of the truck over something like this....

Question:

For those that don't have the spare kit, are you sure it isn't just the divider sliding around where the spare would be? The one in my Rivian isn't secured and I assumed the rare instances in which I heard any clunk noise it was that. I may remove it and see if I still hear anything.

I have spare and noise is front drivers. So not that. And I have gutted the frunk. Even removed the frunk looking for random things that could be moving. Nothing frunk related.

I have the spare, so I can't directly comment on that possibility. But based on my experience with the knock, there isn't much possibility to mistake it for shifting loads. It happens with little to no actual acceleration or deceleration, just a shift in the motor's direction of force. Ever so slightly rolling on or off the throttle causes a pronounced mechanical knock nearly every time.

This is 100% the driveline...felt in pedal and audible.

I'm not going to argue the possibility of it being the driveline, but do you are to able explain the mechanics behind "feeling it in the pedal"?

Asking for obvious or not so obvious reasons.

I brought up the other scenario because in the times I have heard it, it was simply just a noise and for me it sounded like it came from that direction. There was no additional feeling or other feedback. It's very likely I simply have not experienced the same thing.

It is the tick/tock noise, but x2 and worse at higher speed letting off or getting on accelerator. Are you saying that yours has no such noise/clunk/tock? This is what is annoying....the SC acknowledges the noise, says they all sound like that, and then people come on here saying they don't have it....

Someone mentioned the other day that the quads are Bosch motors, but assembled by Rivian....well obviously there was an issue early on with assembly at the plant, since not everyone has an issue...

I don't think so, but I will listen more carefully next time I head out. I do believe that I was referring to something completely different (my random clunk is probably more of a thud) from this thread if that's the case.

If it helps, I am in the VIN 12XXX range.

That's a good thought! I'll check mine out and see if there's any movement since i don't have a spare tire. It would be nice if that was it? I have a service ticket in Bellevue WA. But they can't get my truck in until June. :(

Most of us have both the "ticking" and the "clunk". The clunk feels like it's the driveline and is therefore even more noticeable in the 2WD conserve mode putting more torque on one axel.

The ticking seems associated with application of brakes and or it's just in the CVs and you hear it more at low speed when braking. For me it's when I'm parking or navigating a parking lot that I hear it most.

My truck is going in on Wednesday for a few things and having them look at both these issues at the same time to see if there have been any updates, if I get any results I'll post them here.

My truck is going to get tow for Service tomorrow because the nut come loose where I can unscrew with my finger. The loose nut cause my front wheel to wobble and shake the whole truck. I screw it back tight but don't know what the amount of torque. I requested them to check all the nuts to make sure all tightly torque.

It isn't my spare tire bracket. It's secured nicely, not loose at all. Must be something else. my vin# is in the 13xxx range.

Just got this message from service
the issue that you experienced was due to the rear half shaft unit coming out of the disconnect unit which has caused some fluid to leak out of the Drive Unit, which is resulting in the Drive Unit needing to be replaced due to the damage that it has that has occurred in the process. We were also doing a campaign that relates to checking the fluid of the other Drive Unit on the vehicle in which we found that your fluid is below specification. So we are going to be replacing both the front and the rear
