I doubt Rivian will ever support Carplay but the fact that there is the ability to punch through native UI (example in Aston Martin demo included adjusting Bowers and Wilkins setting) without having to back out of the Carplay software seems like it could really be a best of both worlds kind of scenario... Of course this could partially negate the need for Connect+ but not entirely since you would lose hotspot functionality and Google casting functionality as well which could still be worth purchasing the monthly subscription. Rivian has been pretty good about sending out regular software updates to improve bugs/functionality.

Rivian announced that they'll be supporting this in the 2025.53 release.
Tesla probably will put it in on the 69th week.

For once, I'm not going to rant about CarPlay support. Just make the Rivian environment more stable.

However, I'm going to rant more and more about V2H support that has been promised since day one. The last we heard about it about a year ago but nothing new since.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Apple's software is OK, but their hardware is amazing. Their mobile AI chip design is off the charts, all on the latest TSMC process (which Rivian cannot afford, even if they had the chip design talent). Apple sells a billion iPhones; NVIDIA does not. Value wise, even NVIDIA cannot compete in non-datacenter, non-desktop AI hardware. Apple's AI models will eventually come around, and AI assisted functionality for your car will be unmatched (except perhaps by Google). When I get my Scout, I'll have Starlink to my phone with all-around amazing experience. Rivian is trying to do it all themselves, but can't do any of it well. ADAS/FSD is another example.
All hail Apple... the greatest products I'll never own. ever.

I asked chatGpt and it's below.

I am sure Apple is pretty good for a mobile AI chip, but you can't compare it to onboard chips on a Rivian.

I don't think Rivian uses the AI Compute for the Infotainment computer.

Tesla uses an entirely separate computer for the infotainment than the HW4 (or wherever they're at) computer that does the AP/FSD. I imagine Rivian does the same.

I'll die with you on the V2H hill for sure.
