My OEM front plate holder and the actual plate fell off. After 2 and a half years, the riveted holder supplied by the SC is gone. No gear guard recordings.

I’m kinda glad it’s gone. It was cheap and flimsy. I’m going to replace it with a better third party solution (state law requires it so yes I’ll reattach a new plate).

Opinions on the latest offerings from
SnapPlate, BuiltRight, Abstract Ocean and EVBase?

That's what I told the police officer and I cited your post as back-up (j/k). I normally don't use front plates but, if I was convinced to I'd use the stick on ones.

Two things with SnapPlate:

(1) When installing, it's important to test the latching by giving a SLIGHT tug forwards. Sometimes it needs adjustment per the instructions. [EDIT 2024-01-13: Better yet, check button alignment. See @EveryAmp's 2024-01-13 clarification!]

(2) It's designed to protect the grille by snapping off when subjected to lateral force. That means it can come off in car washes or while forwarding even somewhat swift streams.

In my ordinary use, SnapPlate has been excellent. My first needed adjustment [EDIT: It needed adjustment in order to complete the installation]. My second didn't need adjustment. I don't go far enough off road to be fording streams.

Best wishes, @PappaBolt!

Thanks for the feedback. What happened to your first snapplate?

After first installing my first SnapPlate, @PappaBolt, I gave it a gentle tug to test it.

When it came out of the grille too easily, because the rotating cam hadn't reached past the back of the grille, I adjusted it in accordance with directions.

When I installed it the second time, it seated properly and resisted my gentle tug. It's remained there since February 2024 with no problems.

Pro tip: Keep the Allen wrench in its pouch and put it in the center console, or somewhere else that you'll know where it is. That tool, if you know where it is, allows you to remove the SnapPlate before car washes and before fording streams.

Very best wishes!

Loved having my SnapPlate for 18 months until I forded a river. Drone caught the moment it snapped off but I didn't know about it until I got home and washed the truck. Now I have a sticker plate from licenseplatewrap.com, which is authorized by CA DMV to do sticker plates. I filled in the gap behind the plate with modeling clay.

Reason #3 I register in Florida, front plates are so ?

I think I still have my OEM mount if you want it!
I think I’ll order a SnapPlate and call it good. The biggest hassle is contacting the DOL and purchasing a replacement plate.

If WA state had that option I’d take it. We’re also waiting to get the digital drivers license as an option. The wheels of progress are slow up here.

Mine mysteriously fell off before it ever got installed. I’ve been pulled over twice for no front plate. “Oh is it gone? Sorry officer, I’ll get it taken care of. Thanks for the warning and have a nice day”.

I got pulled over in my previous Mach E for the same. One of these days my luck will run out but so far I have only gotten warnings.

I’m going with a Builtright tow hook attachment plate for the new T. Will see how that works (I’ve heard it’s a bit tough to position the plate so it doesn’t trip out the front prox sensors).

I have one that attaches to the front tow hook. I bought this one as you can pull it off easily when on trails. Year and half without any issues so far! https://www.brainexplodermerch.com/auto
