This is going to overload the service centers even more for all the people like me that figured we would let them catch up with more major things, knowing they can fix my stuff on this list at a later date with service gets caught up.
Why would you or anyone else wait for longer than 12 months on basic issues? I've personally waited for a few months because I wanted the warranty repairs to happen at a more convenient time. But that's also why I was frustrated that they weren't ready to fix my issues when the appointment time came up, since it meant they had my truck for 5 weeks instead of 1.

I would assume that even if a service center was backed up, bringing it to their attention and getting the appointment booked is the important part. They can't hold it against you because they are months behind.

This is pretty standard across all auto manufacturers.

It isn't really an issue. A panel isn't going to misalign after delivery. The rest is owner maintenance.
Our tailgate slipped on the drive home from normal :)

I missed that when Rivian updated the warranty guide for the dual motors that they also defined an explicit "Adjustment Warranty" in the document that hadn't been there before. As always, the warranty only applies to vehicles sold after the warranty terms changed.

I noticed this a couple weeks ago when I was re-reading the Owner’s Manual but I assumed it had always been part of the warranty, interesting that it’s a new change. Unfortunately I took delivery of my truck in early July due to shipping delays and it looks like the warranty was revised in early June. I signed my original Buyer’s Agreement on May 19, and a revised on June 23 (Rivian had an error in the registration fees). Hopefully this grandfathers me under the original warranty terms.

Edit: it looks like the warranty is based on the date of delivery. I’ve already got a service scheduled for most of my adjustment items (hood alignment, steering wheel alignment, a couple rattles). I’ll just have to drive on more gravel roads to find other squeaks before 12 months.

For me, bigger fish to fry in my life than worry about the front door rubbing on the front fender or the buff mark on tail gate. And 2 hours each way to service center is pain I don't want to endure as well as it sitting there for extended period, and damage that may occur while in their possession.

But obviously enough must or they wouldn't really need a policy change to deal with it.

Its a decent warranty IMO. The time for service shouldn't matter so long as you log the service request before you hit 12k. If it takes Rivian 2, 4, or 6 months to address it that's on them.

Notice it doesn't mention anything about noises. Tesla has a similar warranty which I believe is either 10,000 or 12,000 miles. For example, if you bring is Tesla in with a knocking or rattling noise after the mileage they will bill you for diagnositic. Tesla will not even cover alignment at all from my experience. If your comparing to Tesla the Rivian adjustment warranty is very reasonable I feel.

I've had my truck for about six weeks. I noticed a blemish In the paint in the first few days and it's been logged as an open item. I also noticed some panels are out of alignment yesterday (and I looked over these closely upon delivery) after 2200 miles of driving.

I logged a ticket last night and within two hours Rivian service was calling about it. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment and the soonest was mid-October. I figure if I find anything in the mean time, I'll just add it to my appointment.

I'd be pissed if I had one of those Rivians that didn't track straight after repeated attempts. All of a sudden it hits 12k and too bad so sad.

I can understand it applying to paint and panel gaps and that should be much less than 12k miles tho. Some people here are complaining about extremely minor things. With that said alignment issues could be worrying if its a recurring problem.

I was in this position and voiced my concerns to Rivian after the 4th attempt to get the alignment straight (which didn't work) I had 6000 miles at the time, they said bring it back around 10k, but regardless how many miles we'll keep doing it until we get it right, and the reason for waiting was to give their techs more time to learn (dallas location) 5th time it now drives straight (this was back at the beginning of 2023) now I'm at 18k miles and still driving straight..............but my concern was it was going to impact the tire wear or whatever, they agreed they'd replace a tire if that was the case, but thankfully it wasn't b/c the problem was caster not tow / camber

Does Rivian give you a hard copy of the warranty book when you take delivery? If not, you may want to print out a copy of Version 1 and store it in your glove box.

This would be a great sticky thread. Warranties of various vintages, since it appears Rivian warranty will be a living document and the warranty in force for a given vehicle is the warranty published at time of sale.

Alignment and wheel balancing are specifically noted there. Only if they are the result of a factory defect though right?

How would you prove it's a factory defect? Most likely they would say it's normal maintenance.

Mine is in the service center now. It was aligned successfully back in July but now the wheel is off to the left again. Granted I have put on about 6000 miles since then. The shimmy above 75 has been there all along but they are charging me for alignment and balancing. T has 10,000 miles on it.

I asked about the adjustment warranty and they told me it's considered normal. Maintenance. I really can't argue with them because it was successfully aligned back in July.

yeah, thats something they added this year to the warranty. i think they realize most of the service requests are adjustment related so it makes sense for them to cap it. even giving a year is pretty generous if you ask me. ive got a few months left so will be keeping a keen eye out for any adjustments i need before my times up. ?
