Spotted this morning at the Tesla Supercharger on Bryant in Palo Alto, where there is a significant Rivian office.

I chatted with the guy for a minute..."yes, it's working as planned and no, I don't have an updated release date to the public". But then again, what else is he supposed to say? :)

Is it just going to be plug & charge or do I have to fuss through the rivian app for it?

The "Adapters" should have an extension cord attached to it to allow us to park in the "correct spot"...

They'd have to passively cool for a 500A charge. The cables would be monstrous.

Photo is blurry... Totally a fake.

J/K, exciting news can't wait until NACS opens to Rivian.

Wouldn’t Tesla want all that data and make us use the Tesla app to charge our non-Tesla EV? That is, the same as using a Magic Dock?

Cords should be lengthened on the charger. Much more efficient to modify the chargers than to provide an adapter to every ev that needs one. Also not sure if these cables are liquid cooled but that would be another limitation of long adapters.

Are we really going to open this can of worms again? Tesla made the decision to open their chargers to other vehicles. There's no longer a 'correct' spot until they lengthen cables to work with all vehicles.

My understanding is P&C is expected.

I expect there's a data sharing agreement that we aren't privy to, so probably doesn't really matter. One thing Tesla implemented recently was being able to know how many others are on route to the chargers, to know how busy it's going to be. That all falls apart if other brands don't implement it.

Another reason why it's going to take some time to get all the companies that have agreements on the Tesla network. I don't think it's because they want to stagger the rollout to reduce the usage impact. If it were a simple adapter and no plug and charge or other charger info, Tesla would probably just ship out adapters ASAP.
